Comic was bought already slabbed (circa 2006 - old label). No way to tell how it was cleaned or how the tears were sealed, though the label did indicate the resto was "Slight - P" which I believe means it was done by a professional.
Can a comic be submitted to CGC for examination and consideration of a Conserved label? I am assuming a cover cleaning is not the type of restoration that can be removed.
Thanks for the feedback!

Would a Golden Age DC with a purple label (Slight - P) stating "tear seals to cover, cover cleaned" be eligible for a Conserved label?

I hope I can drop off some books locally to not have to mail them. I live about an hour from their address which looks to be some type of warehouse.
If I sell a set like Defenders it would be a packaging nightmare for me and the shipping expense I would have to charge. I'll call them when I get ready to sell to them and see what they say.
Also, I prefer to sell in their auction rather then wait for a consignment book to finally find a buyer. But maybe consignment might be better in some cases.Contact their consignment director Este Bagato to find out about dropping off, her customer service is top notch!

Just completed a deal with Lou as the buyer. Great communication, fast payment and as easy a transaction as can be hoped for on these boards. Enjoy the Thor #206 CGC 9.6, Lou. I am betting that is one comic in your collection that never gets upgraded!

I’ve noticed an increase in damage in the last few months as have several other locals who are subbing books. The most annoying one for me is this crunch which was not there when the book left, it was packaged with 16 others that came back with no damage. The packaging was overkill and I have never had anything damaged in shipping. It became even more frustrating when I callled customer service. The call was about 6 weeks after the book arrived. I was extremely ill when the books arrived and was preoccupied with recovery and did not inspect them until I was somewhat recovered. Apparently CGC only accepts damage complaints for two weeks after shipping, after that tough luck buddy. I don’t know how they can absolve themselves of negligence, I get having a time limit but when i asked for some leniency on the time constraint as I was literally fighting for my life at that time, they still said sorry we won’t help you. I do work occasionally for other collectors and now request them to view the books prior to packing to absolve myself from any damage which may occur during CGC handling.
Sorry to hear about the damage to your books and your illness. Hope you are well on the road to recovery!

As a general rule, I don't collect signed comics. But my one exception to this rule is John Romita Sr., whose work I greatly admire (I treasure the ASM 50 he signed for me years ago).
Though now 91, I know he still signs. Unfortunately, like many who reach that age, his signature (in my opinion) is starting to show the effect of the years. However, while browsing some ASM comics for sale that he recently (January) signed, I couldn't help noticing the stark difference in the signatures. Below are two comics signed the same day. Call me crazy, but looking at the sigs it looks like two different people have signed. Then I noticed the yellow label on both - "signed by John Romita" - not signed by John Romita Sr.
Is it possible that Sr. signed one and Jr. signed the other and, technically and I guess legally, the labels on both are, by omission, 100% accurate?

Nothing to do with light or humidity, but one useful tip I did receive during my years on these boards is that slabs should not be stored upright (which is how I am guessing the vast majority of collectors store them), but should be stored on their side with the spine of the comic down. I believe this tip came via Joeypost.

I keep my slabs safely stuffed in waterproof Ziploc bags and hide them inside my toilet tank (complete darkness and the last place thieves will look). Another sneaky place to store slabs (again, in waterproof cases - very important!) is hidden beneath the gravel in your piranha tank (I even have a little deep-sea diver and bubbling treasure chest placed in my own aquarium to make sure I remember where I buried the comics). Not sure about the humidity as far as either of those suggestions go, though...
And raw comics? I hide them under my mattress: zero light, free pressing and I sleep as soundly as a princess with a pea knowing any burglars will have to roll my load off my king-size Casper to steal my sheet!

Congrats to you both on your new baby girl! Having been there myself (daughter turns two in one week) I'm guessing you both probably need sleep even more than money. The good news is that in about five months or so your little bundle of joy should be sleeping right through the night. Oh, and GLWTS!

This eBay interaction reminded me of a classic SNL skit featuring Eric Idle and Dana Carvey where they play two eager, new customs agents busting smugglers at the airport. The first smuggler was a woman trying to smuggle nylons in a plastic egg and the second was a man with a box of chocolates who had cleverly concealed a second layer of chocolates beneath the first!

Might want to hold off on posting those Brave and the Bold comics for sale. This rep will probably want to nail you with a "Bold listing fee" for those, too.

I predict the current comic collecting craze will burst with a bigger bang than the beanie baby bubble! One year from now many of today's HOT comics will be back where they belong - dollar bins and/or selling at half cover price! And don't think about leaving them to the kids, your crusty old comic collection means about as much to them as your grandpa's stodgy stamp collection meant to you. And it takes up more space! So sell now. To me. At 20% off last year's GPA...

These three t-shirts are made by Loot Crate and are all new, unworn and XL. The shirts are Hydra, X-Men and Battletoads (video game). Too lazy to unfold the shirts for photos so I stole pics from the interweb to show what the shirts look like. Take any shirt (shipped) for $12 or all three for $25!

Ah, good to know! I'm still waiting to get the book back from CGC, so I'll wait to have the book in hand before I pester anyone for help (including you Joeypost!). My first purple label, and with such minimal work done, maybe it will grow on me. If I don't keep it purple, I will no longer have at least one of each of CGC's label types!
I would keep it purple. It is already a 2.0 so it will already be at the lower end of the value scale, and tear seals to the back cover are the least invasive form of resto (as opposed to trimmed which always hammers the value) and shouldn't greatly discourage any potential buyers should you choose to sell (and leaves them the choice to decide if they want to pay to have the tear seal removed).

Hi all. An early SA book came back 2.0 restored, with the only restoration (per label and grader's notes) being "tear seals back cover C-1." Are such tear seals generally removable to achieve a blue label?
Don't use CCS to remove a tear seal unless you like their "technique." I sent in an EC to have a tear seal removed and they removed it by cutting a V-shaped piece from the cover with a pair of scissors. Voila! Tear seal (and tear, and a 1/2" chunk of the cover) removed! And, of course, a shiny new Blue label to show the comic has been improved.
