I think I'll take it as a curiosity piece at this point, so that maybe I can learn more about restoration. The staple placement looks weird, if that was actually monkeyed with, and I want to examine the trimming.
Normally with this issue I look for copies like the one shown below, with the cover aligned to show the sole of Thor's boot (often cut off) touching the bottom of the page, which should leave approximately 1/4" of red above the letterhead. On this "file copy" issue half of the toe of Thor's boot is missing and there is minimal red above the letterhead - I would guess this comic has been heavily trimmed top and bottom. Still a decent deal at the price paid though and one I was tempted to pull the trigger on myself despite the obvious (and duly noted) hatchet job.

Glad you were able to win one of the books for your collection. That Thor is an especially good win, because it's an unattributed Suscha News pedigree copy. It's also got history on the Boards - I bought it from Batmiesta, who had it reholdered and let me know it had come from the premier picture frame Marvel collection of them all.
So if I ever get it reholdered I can just give CGC your number and they will add the pedigree?

Market Report, June 2020
The auction of 77 high grade slabbed picture frame Marvels at ComicLink was a success for the seller. The results resembled those back in March of the first batch of 79 comics: whereas the hammer prices on a number of books were either in line or below expected market value, a handful of books went for record GPA prices, making the overall result well above expectations. One of the positive surprises was the Hero For Hire #1, discussed above as a possible upgrade candidate. The other comics that crushed their previous GPA record prices were all scarce in ultra high grade and rarely come up for sale.
Here are the final hammer prices. Feel free to discuss any of them of interest individually, or what the aggregate results mean for the current state of the picture frame high grade market.

With the pandemic, border shutdown, etc., I have become an even bigger lowballer than before, but I couldn't resist grabbing this issue for my fledgling JIM collection. First appearance of the crotchety Crusher Creel, aka the Absorbing Man, with a classic cover by Jack 'King' Kirby!

I wouldn't be worried about newton rings, they don't seem to be nearly as big a problem as they were a couple of years ago (though many cases now appear to be scuffed in the inner well - which may be intentional on the part of CGC in an attempt to eliminate the newton ring effect). And $100 to get your GL #76 graded sounds about right - assuming your comic is VF/NM or better.
Like others have mentioned, CGC is almost mandatory for getting fair value when selling any comic worth $200 or more - especially if you are not an established seller. But if your goal is simply to keep and preserve the comics you have collected over the decades, mylars and fullbacks will be a cheaper and, most likely, safer alternative.
Best of luck with the submission, hope they all come back tens!
