Florida Governor Issues Coronavirus Stay-at-home Order After Heavy Criticism:

Looks like we may not see much movement here until May, at the earliest.

In a press conference on April 1, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida said that he would be issuing a statewide “stay-at-home” mandate effective Thursday night at midnight. The Executive Order is expected to be signed later this afternoon.
Based on the information currently available, CGC expects its Sarasota, Florida, USA headquarters to be open tomorrow, April 2. Once the Executive Order has been signed, CGC will analyze and provide an update on its operations.- Chaz G. and ChrispyC66

Eh why not? They are still going to mark the book as sold to you. Seems like a good time for buyers, not sellers. If they sit on the book for a few weeks or a month, I wouldn't get too concerned. I was going to send HA my 4 figure books because ebay is probably a poor choice to do that but we'll see how my auctions end up going this sunday I guess.
Too much uncertainty for me to part with any savings in these precarious times. Part of the attraction of comics in the last decade or so is how liquid they have become as an investment with the rise of all the online auction/consignment houses. With those venues closing down, albeit temporarily, comics as an investment are becoming increasingly illiquid. Combine that with a potentially huge drop in buyers due to unemployment/investment losses and...no thanks.

That phase passes. The only thing completely unavailable in SF are cleaning wipes, which are now deemed as a priority item to be sold to health care businesses first.
What about masks? Are those available? Here in BC, Canada, face masks and hand sanitizer have both completely vanished from the shelves as all stocks are either being hoarded or, hopefully, redirected to the health care workers who desperately need them.

My 2/21 Economy sub (3 books) is still at SFG.
So actual grading should commence when based on current lead times? April 10th?

Wondering how this might affect Heritage since they are based in Dallas. Anyone have any information to share? Not trying to hijack this thread so I apologize in advance if this is to purely be a discussion with respect to MCS.
No news yet from Heritage re: possible closure, but I know I won't be bidding on anything there with a potential shutdown looming.

Negative, no reason to trade in one asset that sits in my closet and doesn't pay dividends for another asset that will sit in my closet and not pay dividends.
Unfortunately, with the times to come, I think there may soon be a lot of stocks that also no longer pay dividends.

Stocks? Sell that Silver and buy Gold (and I ain't talking about comics).

I believe Florida will issue a similar statewide stay at home order within the next seven days, my sole rationale for this prediction being my comics just arrived at CGC for grading yesterday.

Not really. Usps, Fedex and ups are all considered essential and are operating normally
I meant more of the actual handling of the collectibles in their facility re: shipping and receiving. I am guessing a large number of those employees will no longer be allowed to go to work at Heritage with the new order.

They are not a retail business so I believe they can remain open?
Even for online businesses, I would think it would be difficult to maintain shipping and receiving operations under the new state guidelines.

My guess is Heritage won't be far behind them with their own announcement.

Just noticed MCS home page:
"The coronavirus shutdown has come to MyComicShop. We are temporarily ceasing operations in accordance with new direction from the governor of Texas. We are not accepting new orders at this time. Please see MyComicShop status updates for more."
MyComicShop will be closed as of Thursday April 2
We are temporarily closed in accordance with direction from the governor of Texas that requires non-essential businesses to close beginning Thursday, April 2. We will update this page as new information becomes available.
Affected services:
- Orders: we are not accepting any new orders at this time. Any orders already received will be processed and shipped Wednesday, April 1.
- The weekly auction that began Monday, March 30 has been canceled. Upcoming auctions in April are postponed indefinitely until we will be able to reopen.
Hoping they can still get my consignment check out.

Not sure how to categorize him as he drew everything from Black Cat Mystery to Richie Rich Vault of Mystery, but for my money Warren Kremer will always rank up there with the greats!

I don't think you could have been a kid in the 1970s and not known who the Harlem Globetrotters were, whether through their encounters with the Scooby Doo gang, Gold Key comics or even their own cartoon. I think I spent half my childhood (unsuccessfully) trying to spin a basketball on one finger while whistling Sweet Georgia Brown.

Those were the ones that bled onto the comic ? I remember those , I come across them still in old collections ... such a shame
Yep, they were nasty. One even had an old price sticker on it that eventually melted through the plastic and through the cover of my All-Star Comics # 58.

1980 - 81 was the first time I saw bags (no boards) at the Comicshop. As a 13-year old whose only income was a Vancouver Province paper route I knew there was no way I could afford to splurge on pristine, crystal-clear bags for my comic collection, so instead I'd buy the used comic bags (which were sticky and had a sickly greenish-yellow hue) they sold in bulk for 1/2 price at the back of the store. I figured any comic bag was better than no bag at all. Those poor comics.

Very thoughtful, Sha. The children's book you sent my 9-month old last fall is still one of her favorites (right up there with Where's the Duck?). Take care and be well.

I'm pretty sure Joey never lived in Baltimore.
Thought maybe that was where the collection was discovered. Don't know much about it other than the name - just saw a lot of picture frames included in the collection.

I'm in the same boat. I have 350 books at c-link ATM. present bidding has the books roughly at 30% of GPA. Many of the books have two weeks to go, but 225 of them end in 5 or less days.
Are your comics the Federal Hill Collection?
