Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
boatfund replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
For comic books I think it's just the news (publicity a bad word here?) that the artist has passed away. Collectors now have them on their mind and remember they liked their work. Personally I wish I had Nick Cardy sign a Teen Titans for me in person - after he passed I seriously considered buying a Signature Series book, however I didn't do it and now the urgency has passed. . -
Sorry, What I meant was in the ebay ad you could not clearly see the holes of staples taken out, didn't mention that in the ad and should have been. The cover loose at one staple is different than cover loose at one staple and extra staples removed (and knocking it down farther in grade) and it probably would have made you ask why did it have extra staples added to begin with.

the op already stated he knew it wasn't 7.0 and thought it was a solid mid-grade. You can have that with a staple loose, however it is very difficult to see the staple holes (of removed extra staples) seeing how the inside pics are so small.

The holes for the extra staples (removed) would show whether it was the same book or not.

Todd McFarlane CGC Private Signing December 2019
boatfund replied to Tim Trachimowicz's topic in The Signature Room
I know,, I just thought it was interesting to look at the numbers. I expected the number to be 10,000 or something like that, the lower number surprised me. The videos are fun to watch, especially his comments to individual submitters. -

Actually as of 1/14/20 for Spawn #1 there were only 2150 total in the CGC SS census. This is only SS not universal total For comparison on the same date ASM 300 there were 3261 total in SS census. It will be interesting to look at the numbers after he is finished with this signing -

"Last of it, peace and chicken grease" and you still did not post a link to the item or give the ebay item number. Is that so hard? You ask "worthy of a ban?" The answer is now no, not on the buyer's part.
-
Worthy of a ban? How about a link to the item in question so we can read the description and see the pictures. Did you mention or even notice the spine and page he was talking about (not judging just asking as we all miss things sometimes). Items not as described are excluded from the no refund policy and under "not as described" the seller does pay the return postage. Buyer notified you of a problem, you said no refunds. What is he supposed to do? Please link the ebay item, you asked if this is worthy of a ban so let us see the item in question please. Maybe it is worthy of a ban.

PGM Planet Comics 1 white pages
boatfund replied to WolverineX's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'm going to say somewhere between 8.0 and 9.0 depending upon how the book would grade without that minor tape pull. -
Amazing Spider-Man 252 9.8 with ticks?
boatfund replied to eastcoaster's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Thanks for the pictures. Holding and examining a slabbed comic book and the case itself is different than seeing pictures of it. That said: 1. your exact purchase is relatively easy to find on ebay. The defects while noticeable are not as apparent, however they are there to see. 2. Contact the seller and see if he will take a return. 3. I do not think of this as a good example of a CGC 9.8 however I did not think it was a good example when I looked it up on ebay. 4. Photography light can play tricks when looking at slab corners and welds, if you have doubts take it to someone that can examine it in person and will know what they are talking about. -

Please show us a picture of the book in it's entirety in the case showing the grade. And also closeups of the corner posts. -
I was able to log on just now with my old password. Looked up a few issues and titles to try to get a feel for it. 1. A lot more clicks to get what you want and it is not as user friendly as old site 2. The ability not to get sig series, restored, pedigrees, etc... on searches was nice (when you don't want to see those) 3. I thought it was easier to get to the actual title I wanted when looking up search results 4. The "live" listings function under each grade I could do without 5. The pull down issue number was a good feature - for example I want to look up the sales for ASM 14 and when I finish I can pull all the issues down and go to the next issue I want let's say 39. However the old site with all issues at once was better - I'm just saying if this is the way it is the pull down issue numbers was a great feature. 6. Well worth the price of a monthly subscription.
