  1. I could have bought it in 2006. Was offered to me for 50k by Burkey. Didn’t have the scratch sadly. Currently it resides here: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=401627
  2. Since you have many great Hush examples, I can understand not wanting to do the trade. For many the Long Halloween piece would be a crown jewel, so I can't blame you for not wanting to let it go.
  3. Great thing about this and most hobbies....you decide how you want to collect. Something can be a grail to you and be meaningless to another person. And you may choose to post pics, videos etc or not to share anything. That is the great thing about collecting. There is no right or wrong way to do it.
  4. I understand what you mean about the term grail however....since many of us have different characters or genres we love, there can be many “grail” pieces. Also some people focus their collection on certain artists. Obviously with that there can be various grails as well. And the other part is as we age and our eye becomes more discerning, what we once saw as a grail may not be anymore. I know my tastes have changed from my early collecting days to now.
  5. Which category would cool lines fall in? ?
  6. Quite a result for a 2.0 Startling 49 in heritage last night! $3600!
  7. Oddly enough, last year a collector emailed me to buy a piece. He had nothing in his CAF. Turned out he is a big collector who lives in the same town as me! We had a nice long conversation and we did the transaction in person. Many people don't have a CAF for the reasons discussed here, but you never know how big a collector they actually are. I am always open to making new contacts and friends with fellow collecting nerds who understand the madness.
  8. Not trying to diverge from the topic of this thread, but having known Keif for a few years, I find much of what people are saying very surprising. He has always been a great guy when I have met or spoken to him. We all have a history of issues and problems, eventually I would hope we grow out of them. But lets put an end discussing specific people here as its not the intention of the thread.
  9. They want a xerox of your art? I think a simple sorry but no would work well here ?
  10. Sorry to hear that! There is no excuse for abrasive behavior. There are of course pros and cons to posting ones art, but I do feel sharing your art is part of the enjoyment of this hobby. Whether it be on CAF, iPhone pics in person, social media etc. One of the most enjoyable parts of attending art cons for me is chatting with other fellow collectors who share their collection and their experiences in obtaining their treasures.
  11. We all get offers. Just politely decline or say not looking to sell. Not sure why this would prevent you from posting your collection.
  12. Many people fish for comments too. They’ll share a piece all over social media inviting comments.
  13. If you like comic art, especially that of Dave Cockrum, I highly advise you pick up this book. I got a copy from the author, Clifford Meth, recently and it’s a great read! Has anyone here read it? I have a new found respect for Neal Adams after what I’ve read.
  14. As Bird said, they always price. That being said, the prices are usually strong.
  15. Final drop to $1249. Will close tomorrow and off to other venues.
  16. I had an interesting discussion today with other collectors about keeping their collections private. Whether it be posting on CAF, other website or social media, more and more people are keeping their collections underground. The most common reasons I’ve heard include not having to respond to people writing them to sell, and making a collection “fresh to market” when the time comes to sell. I know many here who keep what they own to themselves. I can understand and appreciate both sides of the coin. What are you thoughts about collecting this way?
  17. Rogers SS was a collector who set up with amazing stuff. It was $25k. Here are some random pics. Was great meeting fellow boardies and collectors. Some interesting conversations about the market overall.
