  1. ebay user: spidey0max "Dear sir I am very sorry this purchase was made in error. To be truthful its what happens when your pissed off girl friend gets your phone. I am truly sorry for this. As you can see by my feedback this is not a normal thing. Again I am sorry for this it is really embarrassing." I do not cancel bids. He pays. I think fair enough, he manned up and owned his buyers remorse. 2. Don't you hate it when you lose your job as soon as the auction clock hits zero? "Hi there, I was down to my last five bucks when I bid on your $475 worth of collectible vintage comical publications. I expected to be paid what my friend Rufus owes me from the large case of tapioca pudding I helped him buy for his underage girlfriend, but Rufus balked after his mother threw him out of the basement of her trailer. Then my dog died from high cholesterol, my girlfriend left me for a traveling puppeteer, and my bicycle got a flat tire on both tires and the handlebars got bent from my cousin Mildred sitting on them on the way back from her holistic-doctor pap smear appointment. Please accept my apology for ruining your auction with my extravagant, spectacular winning bids." I'd rather get that message!
  3. ebay user: denimreted07 "hello, I apologize about this massive inconvenience but I am not able to purchase these items. life stressors left me temporarily unemployed. again I do apologize for this and the delay of communication on my behalf"
  4. Why would he report the item as fraudulently listed? Best guess? He is trying to legitimize not paying for the item. Was he over-bid, and then the high bidder retracted? No. He placed the high bid 3 days before the auction closed. There were no additional bids on the item. Why are people who have nearly no discretionary income bidding hundreds of dollars on comics? (Scratch that....that's half the comics collectors I know.)
  5. ebay user: omfg-wtshtf Thrill bidder and a liar to boot. His top bid was put in 3 days before the auction ended omfg-wtshtf ( 42Feedback score is 10 to 49) US $267.00 Oct-28-16 02:01:45 PDT 54956 "Sorry, I may have jumped the gun, but I have kind of a short fuse sometimes; I reported the item as fraudulently listed; mainly because I'm completely confused on what's going on. I put in a bid and got over bid. To me, that means I didn't win, better luck next time...so, I then committed my money elsewhere into ordering a very large lot of Star Wars comics. I would very much love to still get this book, but it would be a very loooong time before I have that much extra to spend again...like December. If you can wait that long, I'll gladly purchase it."
  6. THX for the bump. Did reach out. THX again.
  7. ebay user: scha_godo Thrill buys an ASM #2 CGC 6.5 from us right before the NY show (we did not bring to the show of course and only got asked for a nice mid grade 2-3 times.). Get this e-mail this morning: "I apologize, I am unable to complete this transaction currently. I had an unexpected expense recently. I would love to continue business with you and apologize again." Um, no thank you. Took him 12 days to figure out he had a financial emergency.
  8. You are fortunate. A more "sophisticated" buyer would've known how to game the system. You'd have eaten the book and the neg.
  9. What a fun night. Once Roy got warmed up, he was very solid. John being great on the drums was no surprise, but Nelson as an absolute A-list ax man was shocking. Bassist was also great and really rounded out the group. Bravo guys!
  10. As professional and smooth of a deal as you could want. Great communication, bulletproof packaging, timely shipping. A+++
  11. no Chicago bball??? If we were to play we could play Saturday morning. Do you want mt to start organizing for Sat? hasn't it always been Friday morning? don't think Saturday works with con opening at 9-10? +1
  12. Joe Kubert drew the first, rejected, unpublished version of the cover to this Treasury! Heard of this but have never seen one. Would have to buy if it became available. Treasuries are the only thing left from my personal collection.
  13. Always been a fan of these. Can't bring myself to sell them and this one has always been at the top of my favorite list.
  14. ebay ID: ear1907 Thrill bought. Immediately, and I mean immediately canceled.
  15. ebay ID: jokiebeme Inquired about whether we would break up a lot (harbinger #2-#20). We politely said, "no, sorry". He then pushes the buy-it-now button. Immediately pushes cancel transaction button. Messages from the "buyer" "Item was ordered by accident. Thanks" and then "My iPhone just automatically ordered this item. I just requested to get the order cancelled. Sorry." A seemingly endless supply of turd nuggets on ebay.
  16. To all, John reached out to me and asked me to address this thread. I purchased the BA #12 (News Stand edition), along with many other books from John's thread. I have purchased many times from John over the years but as I do not frequent the boards quite as often as I used to, John gave me a call with a listing of his newest arrivals. Shortly after we agreed on the deal, John called me back to say he might have a buyer who would pay a significant premium and would I be interested in splitting any profit above and beyond what I'd just paid. I said sure, I will take a listen but if I don't hear back I will assume you did not cement a deal. As I never heard back, I mailed a check and the books are on the way to me. Best to all, Greg
  17. Good lord, why? Because I have a tremendous aversion to risk, otherwise I would've taken out a much larger position. Great risk/reward opportunity. Again, I didn't exactly go all in on WIZD stock.
  18. Generally speaking stocks get crushed like this on bad news. A bad earnings report. A recall, etc. Something tangible. There doesn't appear to be any at this time.
  19. Stock (WIZD) down another 42% today after getting pummeled 28% last Friday on no apparent news. Full disclosure I have (fortunately at this point), a very small position in the stock.
  20. You have to realize that we are talking about almost 40 years ago where the distribution channels were fragmented and light years apart from the Diamond monopoly in place today. If you listen to Jay Maybruk's interviews on Vinnie's Comic Zone, it's simply amazing as to what could be found in some of those distribution warehouses at the time. For example, 60 Spidey #1's and 20 FF #1's along with 10 to 20 copies of every other Marvel comic ever published. Other examples included finding 200 DD #1's and another with 6 unopened boxes or 600 copies of FF #48. Paying $18K for a warehouse filled with 150,000 to 200,000 comics in which they had to sort and wholesale them off in a 48 to 72 hour time period, and then being left with a carload of books as their profit margin. I guess when Overstreet talked about distribution or warehouse finds in the early price guides of the 70's, these finds were what he was referring to. Interesting insight on some of the personalities involved in the comics at the time who would subsequently become power players in the industry. Stephen Fishler who started with Jay and Sparkle City as a teenager before forming his own company. Steve Geppi back in the days as a dealer and collector before he got into the distribution side of the business. We can also hear his opinions of industry stalwarts at the time such as Chuck Rozanski, Ernie Gerber, etc. One of the best links that I have ever clicked onto on the boards here as it is an absolutely fascinating and gripping listen if you are a long-term collector of comic books. For the non-collector though, it would probably put them to sleep after a few minutes. (thumbs u Long time Maryland dealer Gene Carpenter has told me on more than 1 occasion that FF 48's were on his .50 table in the early '70's. He, along other dealers, had dozens and he said while it was a steady seller, no one bought multiple copies. He finally moved them to his $1 table and felt like he was getting rich.
  21. I need to find out what these guys are doing? My name is Eddie! one of the owners of Comicxposure. We are grateful for all the support we have gotten from everyone on the cgc board. up to June 10th we where operating as normal getting orders out. We have now tripled our business basically over night in the beginning of june and it caught us off guard with all the orders received. However since the 10th we hired more staff and trained to help get us up to date as of tomorrow we will be up to current orders and all pre orders placed before June 10th will be filled and done. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. When attempting to contact us use the contact page on the site or the phone number. Again thanks for your continued support and not to worry we aren't going anywhere.
