There's a new Baker auction coming up next month, in case nobody noticed. Looks extensive.

If I remember correctly Archer St. John died in the apartment of his mistress (of a heart attack?). I'm not sure anyone can shed much light on their relationship given how private Matt was mixed with how St. John really had him control the art and layouts. My feeling is Matt was busy and dedicated and St. John knew the quality of the images even if he neglected the quality of the printing. Sales were enough to keep the lights on and keep Archer galavanting.
They say Archer's son fired everybody over the shame they knew of his affair. Matt said he never knew St. John had a mistress and felt he had been screwed.

Holy guacamole! How is it that I didn't know you'd find Matt Baker art inside Lassie? Indeed a nice pick-up!
He did 3 issues. Get them now before the big spike.

Thanks! Very odd I thought. I've never seen a 2.0 look so remarkable.
Grader notes:
large piece out bottom of back cover
light spine stress lines to cover
light staining to cover
moderate creasing to coverIt's the large piece out that did it. Otherwise beautiful.

Agree that sanity will be restored, sooner than later.
Hopefully sooner

Totally happy to see new people interested in pulps.
Happy to see the value of pulps increase (my pulps, not the pulps I want to buy or the pulps that need to get scanned )
Unhappy to see newcomers exploring the pulps getting burned.
Speculators on the other hand, I have no sympathy for.
Some of the dealers I see listing these books at drastically marked up prices know better and absolutely seem to be looking for suckers.
I've seen fair prices on the graded pulps, too, so it's not like everybody is going for the throat on it...
This book is as common as spit. I walked by a dealer at a local show with a stack of them. Cheap.

This is the link to the GoFundMe that was set up for Bob's daughter Katy to pay for Bob's final expenses and to help her, as she uprooted herself across the country to take care of her dad in his final months, quitting her job, and only starting a new one the day he passed. Paul Levitz, Doc V, Neil Gaiman, Steve Englehart, and many others have stepped up to the plate to help out. They are very close to their stated goal, and it would be nice if the CGC boards could put them over the top.
Done.
