  1. I'm surprised that Wartime Romances is still here. Great cover and interior. Baker at his finest. I've been looking for an upgrade for years.
  2. Couldn't remember whether I have a copy, so I went looking. There are 4 copies on the census, #35 has 1, so I don't know which is scarcer. The Murder in Pink has a great female gangster in it. Worth finding a copy for.
  3. Exaggerated anatomy can be appreciated as "style" like a Kirby drawing, but the Molly is trying for realism and I think it needed work. The dress is nicely rendered I suppose.
  4. Yes I always thought the right gun arm was all wrong on Molly O'Day, doesn't look attached to her body. Her head should be lower like in the Pulp painting. Not even a good swipe.
  5. This is in the next ComicConnect. https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=745110
  6. My bad. It was on Heritage. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/brenda-starr-14-2-superior-comics-1948-cgc-vf-75-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7141-91071.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 I couldn't find the $12,800.00 copy. I was thinking of the 8.0 copy that sold on the ComicConnect.
  7. I'm sure she'll find out on her own.
  8. Actually the design of the Thrilling Crime Cases is similiar to Cinderella Love 25. Big female head surrounded by lots of vignettes.
  9. Before the Crippen collection came to market after his death, it was found out the previous Crippen books, known as "D" copies, that had been released through Metro, were books stolen by a contractor working at the Crippen household.
  10. This finished on last Sunday's Ha. Found out about it too late. They give the credit to Baker, but he doesn't sign, unlike his other Flamingos. I suspect it might be a Baker/Thorton hybrid as Thorton was being groomed to take over the series. Any thoughts? https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/matt-baker-flamingo-daily-comic-strip-original-art-dated-8-1-phoenix-features-c-1953-/a/121740-11006.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  11. My top 3 were GCE 12, Seven Seas 4, and APC 6 CL 25 was #4. Not surprised it was #1. And I own a copy of all of these, so no favouritism here.
  12. The colour break on the woman's skirt does not exist. It's only on the scan cgc sent me. There is a colour breaking crease on the "e" in authentic that is barely visible. The tear may be a tear or a crease, I never went near it for fear I might make it worse. The whites are darker on mine, but not as dark as the scan. I paid 5 bucks for these crappy scans?
  13. But how can they be so sure about the Osrin credit? Especially since they've missed so many other obvious Baker credits.
  14. Thanks. Yes, I was disappointed in the grade, thought it looks better than that Ha copy that still got a nice piece of change. In fact I was pissed. Looks amazing in hand. This cgc scan does not do it justice.
  15. This also came in. By the way, CGC credits Baker and Osrin with the cover, but just Baker signs it. I always assumed if Baker signed it, his was the only hand involved.
  16. Romance Without Tears is by John Benson. I saw Michelle Nolan at WizardWorld in Chicago this year.
