Yes, they will - they will get "special" extensions.
Which they've already gotten...but, as I said, they will not be able to hold on to them indefinitely, unless the laws themselves are changed.

All true. But they will continue Disney's copyright extensions as long as hundreds of thousands of people are employed by the company and the $ generated. Disney is in a different league than virtually any other copyright because of the widespread implications. Making Disney characters public domain will NEVER happen.
