  1. I'm sure you could customize a stamp to have rotating letters along with the date, or different stamps for each distributor. I went through Salida 2 years ago trying to find info about some of the old stores with no luck. I have delusions about tracking down some of the Blankises who remain in the area, but haven't made it a priority.
  2. Different publishers had different distributors. For example some Larson books have ON for Omaha News and PN for another distributor, the name of which escapes me. This let the store know which distributor to return the unsold books to. It's commonly accepted that this is the case. There wasn't a single distributor who could just pick up everything. Somewhere I have some documentation by date of these Salida codes. When the Atlas implosion happened the code on the Atlas books switched to the same one as DC which tells me that this is a distributor marking.
  3. I meant it marked the distributor for returns.
  4. It's a distributor code. Interestingly when the Atlas implosion happened the Atlas titles switched their code, which goes along with what we know about having to use DC's distributor. There's an M, C, and D IIRC.
  5. Heading out for the night, hopefully I can get some pics tomorrow.
  6. The missing piece should be included in the book. Congrats!
  7. Gotcha. I thought you were saying he started in comics at Z-D
  8. I'm curious if this is a thing. For a while I wasn't even pursuing Centaurs because I figured I'd be competing with Rick. Hey @G.A.tor, you need to start bidding on your books again!
  9. No, it was already at $4100. That was a very strong closing price. I thought I had a realistic shot at the AMF 2.5 at $13K, but it closed at 1.7X the last sale from a year and a half ago with Rick out of the market. I hate when others have my same good taste in comics.
  10. I think the volume of his work is part of the issue. Who else has so much art out there to choose from?
  11. I've never bothered to pay close attention to this cover. The actual image is not well done at all. poor effort by Silvestri. The colorist basically turned this into an iconic image from this run. Silvestri owes the colorist a round of drinks.
  12. As the consigner I think you could have bid a couple more times. Congrats! The 15 is incredibly tough with those colors, and still remains highest graded at 6.5.
  13. Teach yourself to grade and detect restoration. Buying raw is much more affordable and entertaining than certified. But in fairness, if you have a limited budget going after the most popular character isn't going to be your best strategy.
