  1. Of course it matters, but this is not a silver age book that requires PGM Books comments. Super rare book, extremely in demand, signed by one of the best fiction writers over the last year; unless this book ends up a 7.5 slabbing it will only increase its value over selling it raw. You don't need to throw up a NM 98 in the PGM thread to determine whether you should slab it or not unless you know absolutely nothing about comics. The OP even said he had it stored in Mylar, if he knew back then what the book was and how special it is, I'm guessing it's probably a 9.4-9.8 candidate.
  2. Not just that, there's usually significant tax advantages by investing in registered products. We haven't even talked about counter party risk, transactional risk, and any of the many risks of physically having the item (theft, fire, negligence, cats, children, etc.) So far every one on the comic cheerleaders have looked at strictly total return, which completely ignores many of the risk components of the equation.
  3. That's awful, she probably got canned!
  4. Well who knows, maybe? .....also, Sandman is being regarded as one of the best written series over the last 30 years has a very strong and loyal fan base. So this book will retain value many years down the road, regardless of the show - unlike a lot of other books that spike almost entirely off tv/movie news.
  5. Personally I would keep the book (not knowing your personal financial circumstance), but demand for it now is maybe the best its ever been. You'll get a good sale out of this.
  6. Are you not familiar with this comic? The OP doesn't need to post pics in the PGM forum threads. This is a very rare book, signed by Gaiman makes it that much more special. The buyers (whom I would be one of) won't care that it's green label.
  7. Definitely slab it. I will be a buyer of this book and many others on this forum, and if you don't have any buyers, people on Ebay will want it. It's a pretty amazing piece, I'm jealous!
  8. Thanks Jimmy. Vids (as my brother calls em) is really not my area....
  9. It's a joke, relax. Don't post stupid memes if you can't take a little bit of ribbing.
  10. No, the grading is certainly relevant and will increase value over the raw equivalent if it hits a certain threshold. There really is no benefit for the seller to sell this book raw unless it has some major deficiency that CGC would penalize it for.
  11. You can't compare those top tier comics to the entire universe index of stocks, it doesn't work that way.
  12. I bet the guys with name 'Keys Collector' definitely wants to hear that comics may (gasp) lose value! Do every one of your sales end with the tagline, 'guaranteed to go up!'. LOL
  13. Your comic is very much in demand, and slabbing it now will only detract the value if it comes back a very poor grade (like a 7.5 or something). There are several people who will be interested in this book, send it off to CGC and offer it for sale on the boards. I'd be interested. Great book!
  14. Lol ya because there are A TON of yellow labels for this book!
  15. I imagine video games would be great sellers, didn't Nintendo report record switch sales (or something like that)? I had a first generation WII that is moded, last month I threw up an emulator with every SNES game and left it at the cottage for those rainy days.
  16. How much of a premium? Considering the risk of restoration, raw copies will send considerably lower than their graded copies unless there's some kind of arrangement in buyer with the buyer/seller if the book is restored. This tier of comic is not something anyone should buy raw unless they have a lot of experience and really know what they're doing (like some of the early posters in the thread).
  17. Have you been reading anything that I wrote?
  18. Letting this gem go, it's been in my PC for years but I've recently acquired a lower grade raw that I'm happy with. $675 - SHIPPED FOR CANADA and THE US. I'm in Canada, all shipping done by Canada post - expedited parcel with tracking/insurance. Payment by Paypal only. Rules: No Probies/No HOSers! No returns on CGC books. I am willing to split the payment up into two (two months tops). I've executed many deals on this forum, here's my ebay feedback: https://www.ebay.ca/fdbk/feedback_profile/o-town-comics?filter=feedback_page:All Beautiful Book, the case is in fantastic shape as well (just one smudge on the front cover). The top of the book's label is ripped off (see pics).
  19. You're asking if raw prices are the same as CGC? Didn't realize this thread ever existed, here's my baby - never thought I'd be able to afford one!
  20. Okay, so you get it. A lot of people don't. And when people start saying comics are a better investment than owning stocks/real estate - that's where I have a problem. I sold 3k worth of comics (maxx ashcans) years ago to a guy living in his mom's place.....
  21. In all seriousness, I see local houses with very expensive monstrosity furniture, because I see the appeal of antiques. But then I think, I'm under 65, that thing weighs hundreds and hundreds of pounds and there's no way I would ever con/trick someone into paying what I paid for that down the road.
  22. Do the springs poke you in the back sitting on a 300 year old couch? Please don't take pictures of the rusty and creaky bed, there's kids on this forum.
  23. If I show you some good comics will you smarten up?
  24. Interesting anecdote from today, literally just hours ago.... Met with a repeat buyer of a run of comics...as I'm leaving: Hey do you know Barry Allen (real name Gerry Ross), he's got lots of stuff and comes to you. Me: ahhhh yeah Him: ya he sold me a 9.0 Star Wars 1 for $170 (in my head, groan), he has lots of good stuff, says he's an honest guy (in my head, non crooks don't say that). Me: it's graded cgc 9.0? Him: no but he said if it doesn't come back a 9.0 I'll refund your money (also in my head, I doubt that will ever happen, and even if he did you're out the grading fees) Me: just be very careful dealing with him. Him: I just think this is a great investment....(trails off, I stop listening at this point). Just felt this story was very fitting of this thread.
