OK, but what color is blue / purple? If only splits and tears are sealed, what color label would that get? Maximum grade posible?

You "should" be able to structurally repair it with archival glue and end up with a book that won't fall apart the next time you touch it. CGC'a policy that any repair is a form of restoration should be reconsidered. People don't want to conserve their books because of the purple label. Meanwhile, fragile books continue to deteriorate and sustain more damage during handling. Sealing splits and tears should be acceptable in higher grades than now allowed if professionally executed. -IMO

What's the diff between archival tape and archival glue?

Lots of stress on the spine with tiny creases, but these don't seem to carry as much weight these days. Slight staple tears and oxidized staples. Some tanning/foxing inside covers. That's a really nice copy. 7.0

I think the absence of other defects elevates this copy above apparent grade. I will go 8.0.
