  1. the 200 ct boxes will hold 200 modern books, but you have to lay the silver age 90 degrees other direction...and they are 3-5x as thick, so only about 50 safely fit...and the cgc boxes were slabbed
  2. No. A Diamond 200 ct box probably had 50-60 raw and I had 45+ slabs. So did have over a 100, but not sure how 600 was arrived at
  3. whiz 22 and silver surfer 1 are the only 2 books I have personally collected multiple copies of... think I got to 50 whiz 22 and had 2 cgc boxes and diamond 200 ct box of SS 1's at one point (most all I've sold since hurricane 2018) the reason, SS 1 was the first comic by dad bought me in 1972, so I used to buy every copy I saw for nostalgic reasons...and whiz 22 I bought every copy I saw for about 20 years for sentimental reasons
  4. I was really thinking 25K for it...c'est la vie
  5. the one page I was interested in is already higher than I had anticipated bidding...maybe wishful thinking on my part... sigh
  6. Ahhh the good ole days the play by play was at the request of some that for some reason (work maybe?) couldn’t follow the live auction but could hit refresh on their cgc boards page. was a pita but I tried anyway
  7. I only use, rely and trust fedex. With dsr and a good relationship with my regular driver , it’s my only shipping preference
  8. we were so young...rip paul and steve
  9. I had some illusion that I would/could get an example of all the artists that drew the Surfer, and even thought Id take it one step further and collection an example from every surfer issue...it took a little bit for me to realize that that is likely an impossible goal for a myriad of reasons... so that was my first "turn" in my collecxting focus...from "get an example" to " get a great image" regardless of where or what issue
  10. I currently have about 275 pieces of Surfer art...I had 10 right before covid... an OA friend asked me "what is my goal" with regards to my surfer art collection...and I couldn't answer it easily...hence, my problem... admittedly I own some pieces that I scratch my head and say "why"...yet I find it somewhat difficult to even consider selling them I did go through every page and finally list what I have, issue, artist, cost, etc...so, I've accomplished something!
  11. I just checked that...luckily I have always paid with check, so didn't have but one cc on file that expired like 10 years ago...so whew to that
  12. for the few that know me and my story, I was never really an "art" collector....over the past, I had picked up a few Silver Surfer OA pieces on whims, just to have "an" example here and there, but never was an art collector...like many, about three years ago I dived into the deep end an i found myself down the proverbial rabbit hole... post hurricane destruction 2018, I had to sell my entire comic collection to get by, and there was just no feasible way for me to collect comics again...but after almost 50 years of comic reading and buying and selling and collecting, there was certainly a void that needed to be filled...fast forward to 2020 and covid provided an avenue for me to explore OA...however, I was (and largely still am), a novice collector... I knew each piece of art was unique, and unlike comics, only 1 existed...so, I began buying virtually any and all pieces either auctioned, or privately offered to me ... that seemed like a great way to accumulate and collect...I am singularaly focused on one character...the silver surfer (first comic I ever read, back in 1972)...so, SS has always been my favorite... now that my collecting OA has matured somewhat (I don't claim a lot), I find myself re-examining and re-evaluating many of my purchases... I think I've become a better collector over the past 3 years....and surprisingly, I've redefined what Surfer I really want to collect... so that brings me to my current quandary....do I sell some pieces that just don't "fit" my current collecting direction, or do I hold onto because I once found them worthy to buy, and I do like having them...and if I do part with some of them, how do I do it? trusted dealer, auction, CAF/board sales, etc... just curious about how other boardies have approached and handled this...
  13. that is great...you going to post them so we can share in your enjoyment?
  14. Your photograph skills are so much better than mine and Peter was the kind soul who sold them to me some moons ago! Always appreciative of him and his fairness
