  1. I am working on a couple of little runs as we speak....keeping on the down low so prices stay cheap
  2. tough to say...I got "lucky" the first time, as most all issues seemed to be available in the market, and then I got even "luckier" with a long time collector selling me all the "hard issues" , then super lucky when a few boardies helped me put the final nails in the coffin... that said, michelle nolan told me that if anyone can complete catman in less than 5 years, they have accomplished an incredible feat... I just kind of giggled
  3. Seems like you finished this run very fast. It really pays to be able to see so much great material as you have the pleasure of doing. Quite a feat on such a difficult run... I actually finished this run in about 3 months, back in 2009 I Think...just never really took a group shot...and given that I am likely selling most of the run (I am keeping 5 or so books I really like), figured better document now
  4. after 6 long years of collecting, I did finally finish my World's Finest 40-80 run... whew!
  5. low distribution doesn't necessarily equate to "less copies today"... 27 is a relatively common 1953 book...there are almost always 6-10 copies readily available in the marketplace, and that is just searching the "tip" of the iceberg... in my experience, I have actually found issue 26 to be much scarcer than 27, yet no "limited" notation is made... that said, the actual reason for the OSPG notation of limited distibution on issue 27 is beyond my recollection, but there is nothing "limited" about its availability today (thumbs u also keep in mind that most early 1950's superhero books are scarce , but my guess is there were as many 27's released/produced, as the surrounding issues ...maybe the ending of the korean war afffected distribution Gator, thanks for the analysis. BTW, I should have checked the OPG, as it states low distribution, not limited distribution. At any rate a check on Ebay shows 4 copies of #27 for sale right now versus 1 for issue #26. When you say the marketplace, do you mean Ebay plus the major on-line sites, like Four Color Comics, Mile High, Pedigree Comics, Metroplis and the like? correct...the marketplace encompasses all the above and more...what you have listed is the "tip of the iceberg", but there are probably hundreds of dealers that don't have online presences (like us), but that carry that inventory... again, I wouldn't put any faith in the "low" aspect...there are more copies (supply) than demand (thumbs u

  7. Sounds perfect for the price guide. Indeed
  8. My inability to grow facial hair to any substantial degree might have been a consideration
  9. no, actually I didn't... I talked to JC at gemstone/ospg and he even offered to post it in a scoop update...it was just a simple accidental omission on the guides part... so, I am going to incorportate some into the 2012 report, and the rest will remain a mystery (outdated and irrlevant at this point)
  10. But is Gator about big, giant, city-smashing Japanese monsters? ('cause those things are really cool) I do carry Godzilla (thumbs u
  11. I am just now warming up to anime'
  12. absolutely NOT... my philosophy has pretty much always been only to deal in properties that have a historied following (typically 10 years or more, like SW, ST, Simpsons, DC figures, etc)... sure, I might have made short term money, but to be in the position I would have needed to be in the 90's (volume wise), surely would have resulted in a HUGE loss...so, glad my philosophical criteria saved me!
  13. actually, I cut into theirs... I always got figures delivered to my customers doors cheaper than they could buy from walmart, etc (thumbs u
  14. You got some 'splaining to do here. they tend to make enough to pay the bills, but I don't see a profit from them...at least not yet (thumbs u I just knew that I should've bought a few more books from you in San Diego... The possibility that you might end up hawking comics under a Florida bridge with a cardboard sign and the words "Will trade funnybooks for Coke Zero" scribbled on it just frightens me!

  16. Best to avoid the lame-o covers and stories for EC, Superior or Gilmore. I have enjoyed several stories...however, the reprints are so much cheaper that I do find myself driven to some covers! CSS are good too (thumbs u CDNP isn't considered a horror title. It's a crime title. I know, but some of those stories are so bad, it is "scary"

  18. already collected that run (at least the issues I wanted), so no worry (thumbs u
