  1. Here is the splash page from the Man In Black story in All New #11. This may be his first appearance. All New #11 is dated Spring 1945. Overstreet has Front Page Comic Book as his first appearance, but that is just dated 1945 - no month. So it is hard to tell. Bob Powell and his studio did all the Man in Black stories for Harvey. Weird that this is listed as a "Martin Epp Feature". Epp was one of Powell's assistants. Hey, this cover's going in the Fire and Water thread, too!
  2. Those are beauties! But I always felt there was something a bit weird about Fred MacMurray...
  3. This guy was 50 years ahead of his time!
  4. That is a really creepy cover!
  5. I had to laugh! Show this to any other group of people, and "beautiful" is probably not their first reaction!
  6. Gino, your enthusiasm for GA comics and your great taste are really contagious and part of what makes this a great community! Thanks for sharing your comics and your excitement! I just have one question...do you have any issues of Our Flag?
  7. And here's a sweet double play... Home Run #3 signed by Stan "The Man"... Original Bob Powell artwork for the story inside about Ty Cobb and Jackie Robinson's base running...
  8. We got lots of other sports comics in the Comics With Balls - Golden Age Sports Comics thread. Here are a few highlights for baseball fans...
  9. Heroics (especially with Hydroman and Man O'Metal) sometimes show fire and water...
  10. Here are some with both fire and water...
  11. Someone was asking to see a copy of this...
  12. Gotta love the Boody! One of the great GA humor titles!
  13. Art by Golden Age great Mike Roy!
  14. Sounds like your raw scans might be a bit too big. If you adjust your scan settings, you will probably be able to work with this new set up and save yourself time. Should be easy - drop me a PM if you want some help with the settings!
  15. Not a "Seasoned Veteran" but here are some samples. Original file sizes: 1. 666 x 950 - jpg with medium compression - file size 147 kb 2. 800 x 1142 - jpg with medium compression - file size 191 kb 1. 1000 x 1428 - jpg with medium compression - file size 208 kb Works great and looks great!
  16. I think your gut is right on this. This seems to be a great max size. The larger file you posted seems like overkill. I strongly suggest not having thumbnails as a default. If people want to make their images thumbnails, that is fine. But seeing the full image on first glance is preferable to having to click through. Thanks for the chance to share input!
