  1. Met Mike at DragonCon a couple of times, got lots of stuff signed but only one piece of art, which I love.
  2. Agreed, there are tons of great books. If an established seller with good feedback and a return policy hs a good description and lots of scans and pics, I can usually make my own decision about a book and am rarely dissatisfied. I
  3. But why those specific totals? WHY???? I won't sleep well tonight.
  4. What a weird number, limited edition of 32,000? How on earth did they arrive at that number? And man, how the times have changed. 32,000 would be a healthy print run for most mainstream comics these days! As for everything selling at a certain price, I think that's true. People love comics, and want to buy comics. As was said, you can even move funny animal books and westerns if they're priced cheap enough. In my experience, these sorts of books generally go to casual buyers who just see an "old" book and believe that "old = $$$" no matter what it is. You will then often see these books at an insane mark up on Facebook Marketplace, where they will linger indefinitely. But not EVERYTHING will sell. Everything does have a price though, it's true; but sometimes that price is "I'm going to pay YOU to haul these longboxes of drek out of my basement!"
  5. Don't reopen the worm can, we just sealed it up late last night!
  6. Yeah, saw the pics of that line from Toy Fair. I'm not a big Bishoujo collector but I may be onboard for these.
  7. Yeah, but it still took a lot longer than it should have. Many people were calling for them to break ties with Kramer for years before it happened, but I believe there were legal tie ups that prevented them from doing so, or so they claim. It's been a while since I read those articles though, so I could be mistaken. Anyway, let the creep rot. I normally consider myself a fairly compassionate person, but not in these cases.
  8. I have nothing new to add, but I also got the error this morning and I DEMAND TO BE HEARD!
  9. Yes, I enjoyed it a lot at the time, haven't revisited it since it was published. I run across that book a lot in 50 cent and dollar bins, I should probably put a run together and read them again. Can probably do it cheaper than buying a tpb. As for Flex, I know there were legal issues for years, that's part of why the back issues of his mini series used to sell for crazy money. But didn't they eventually resolve it? I thought they ended up releasing a collection eventually and the prices on the back issues plummeted, but I could very well be wrong about that.
  10. I WILL say that in the time I've been selling locally on FB, I've noticed that Craigslist seems to have mostly atrophied. I used to get a lot of tirekickers (and some sales) with the same sort of stuff on CL. But these days it's mostly crickets on CL, whereas FB at least generates responses, even if they don't always lead to sales. So, I'm not sure if that means CL buyers/sellers have migrated to FB en masse, but locally, anecdotally, it FEELS that way.
  11. I've been selling locally on FB recently, mostly stuff that I don't feel like shipping (Lego sets, large GI Joe items, large lots of comics, etc.) The upside, obviously, is the lack of fees, but I also like that I meet the person, get cash, confirm that they're happy and I'm happy, and don't have to worry about someone coming back at me with a "not as described" case or negative feedback. It all seems very honest and straightforward. Not sure if I want to move to mail order sales on there yet or not, though. Lack of a reliable feedback system is a deterrent at this point. Not that eBay's feedback system is terrific, but it's something, I guess.
  12. Morrison's Doom Patrol run is still one of the most breathlessly imaginative series I've ever read. Idea after idea after idea. DP and Animal Man alone cemented his rep for me, Invisibles was pure gravy. I'm not saying that the man can do no wrong, but he's definitely earned a lot of slack from me for those titles alone.
  13. Sadly, I agree completely on the Darkseid/Thanos perception with the public. A craggy faced alien overlord who seeks the "anti life equation"? Definitely a "been there done that" with the average movie-going public, I'm afraid. WB/DC missed the boat here. Is the New Gods film still happening? If so, they're going to have to work hard to make Darkseid seem unique.
  14. I know, right? If there was ever a sign of the end times, this might be it. But if I can make some money on the way down...
  15. Let's see if I can dig it up... Oh yes, here it is: Rob Liefeld: "I'm not so great at drawing." Probably for the best if you don't try to verify that quote, but I assure you that it is almost certainly real.
  16. To be fair, he (my cat Bob) is a maniac, and has earned this indignity a thousand times over. For the number of window blinds he's shredded alone, he should have to balance a marker on his head 10 times over.
  17. Agree 100%. HoS 92 is a book that appeals to the "classic comic collector" archetype more so than the speculator. I'm assuming some of the recent interest is due to the upcoming tv series, but really, how much heat can a streaming-only, DC Universe website exclusive show really generate? This is a true KEY bronze book, no matter what happens in other media. 1st appearance (sorta) of a classic and enduring character that has inspired two films, an animated series, a kids' toy line,, a tv series, and now a new tv series; a character who has been in near constant publication ever since that debut; and a classic cover and story by one of the best comic artists to ever pick up a pencil. I do think the price has been run up a little bit due to the flippers jumping on board, but Hos 92 is as sturdy and classic a bronze book as you can find. Values will probably come down once the series does whatever it's gonna do, but the book is always going to be desirable.
  18. @tv horror Now THAT is a collection I can endorse! I wish I'd held onto all of my Sideshow 12" monster figures (and the little big heads too.) It's really great stuff. Love the collection!
  19. Mine showed up Saturday and I LOVE it. Probably going to order another one to display as Death alongside Apocalypse, and keep the other for the X-Men lineup. The wings are terrific. Where did you get the flying stands you're using? Do they seem sturdy?
  20. Indeed, the UFO 4 is a second print, and it helpfully says so right on the front cover. But the second print is itself now a $10-$15 book, so it's a solid $1 pickup. But thanks for looking out, @ADAMANTIUM!
