  1. Look, I don't have time to read this whole thread. Did Layton create Michael Jordan or not?
  2. I also collect the Carl Barks Library books (as well as the Don Rosa volumes) and the Complete Peanuts sets. Fantagraphics set the bar high with their archival projects. Beautiful books.
  3. Same. I have no delusions about winning, but I DO have an abiding fear of being left behind if all of the rest of these jerks hit the big time.
  4. I'd like to make an initial public offering of some shares (i.e. pages I've cut out with an X-Acto blade) of Sonic Disruptors, Sun Devils and Kickers Inc. Limited offering!
  5. I'm wondering if it's because this issue was out around the same time that so many different multi-packs were being distributed, so maybe it was easy to just keep going back to press on it? I have zero actual information, just speculating.
  6. Great setup, great cover and yes also a great toy! I always felt like the Devilfish was underappreciated. I think it's one of the best vehicles in that size/price range, for sure. God knows I had a ton of of fun sinking it in the swimming pool when I was a kid.
  7. Thanks! It's a cute little thing, good for fooling around at home. I've also got the Fender Rumble 200 that I've been using for gigs for a year or two now, and I really like it. Who knew they could ever make such a lightweight solid state amp that would sound so good? I used to drag around a 6' tall classic Kustom amp, which is beautiful and sounds great, but is a pain in the @$$ for gigs. I'd been lugging that monster around for 25 years, but my back thanks me for the switch to the Rumble 200. But since the 200 mostly lives at the band practice space, I asked for the 15 to keep at home, and Santa came through!
  8. Yup, and the thing is, it's actually one of my favorite Omni's, content wise. I love that run. But when the price spiked I had to sell, and now there's more than enough supply to meet the demand. Now, if they'd just get around to reprinting the Captain Britain and Eternals omni's, I'd be happy!
  9. I bought a set of Nameless for a buck a pop at HPB a year or so ago. Really dug the Lovecraft vibe. Sold my set when the movie spec announcement came out, think I got about $50 for them? Will happily buy another set if I find them for a buck.
  10. Killing Joke has more printings, but it's also a stand-alone issue. Are there any other in-run issues that can come close to 414? That's pretty amazing, @Cpt Kirk!
  11. While Layton's claims are ridiculous, it probably IS worth noting each of these additions to these popular characters, as more and more of them are going to be falling into public domain. Mickey Mouse is coming up in just a few short years, but it will specifically be his Steamboat Willie appearance, as a black and white character. If you wanted to knock off Mickey with white gloves, or in color, you'll have to wait a few more years. So while these little changes and distinctions seem silly, I think they're only going to become more important in the coming decades in regard to copyright protections, and the "creators" of those individual pieces are going to want their piece as well, I'd imagine.
  12. That was a super nice set. After TRU folded it was available at BBTS and other retailers for a while, but it looks like it's sold out now, so prices are creeping back up again on eBay. But yeah, the head sculpts on Dark Phoenix are super.
  13. Just giving you a hard time, my friend. They definitely don't grow on trees. I've been trying to find one that isn't bent/stressed at a not-crazy price for about a year now. The hunt continues! I never would have thought that I'd find a minty cockpit/turret glass with unbroken tabs before I found a nice landing strut, and yet that's how it worked out.
  14. Happy belated New Years, friends! I also played a gig on NYE. It was somewhat less well attended than Buzz's event. Somewhat. :cough:
  15. For a while I was doing a good job of keeping up with all of the Marvel Omnis, but once prices started to go nuts, I sold most of them off. At first, this seemed like a genius move, as they begin to reissue most of the pricey volumes. For instance, I'm still pretty happy about my decision to sell off Howard the Duck when you could get $200+ for it. But there are several that have yet to see a reprint, and it looks like chances are getting slimmer with every passing year. Of course, as the format has gone on, they're printing more and more material that I don't personally believe is worthy of the format, so I never would have had a "complete" collection anyway. Here's what Santa brought me this year, hardcover wise. I also got the lastest Don Rosa Ducks gift set (my mother in law gets me the latest collection every year) as well as the latest Gottfriedson Mickey Mouse slipcase. Sweet books. I'm super happy that DC reissued Infinite Crisis (prices had gone bananas on the first edition) as well as the Fourth World stuff, as I'd sold my original set of the Fourth World Omnibus hardcovers. I think I may have still preferred the paper and size of those four individual collections, but this honkin' huge Omni is still pretty sweet.
  16. Belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Years Jimmers, and so glad to hear about Penny!
  17. I need a single rear landing gear to complete my Rattler. Surely you've got a spare somewhere in that pile of goodness! Shake it loose!
  18. Love the DH Aliens books, a collector after my own heart! I don't do slabs for the personal collection, for the most part, but I decided to put together the Aliens mini 1-6 in 9.8, and it took me years. YEARS. It was a fun hunt, though. Congrats!
  19. I would say that I regret my very first sub (I believe it was a set of Frank Miller's 300 and a copy of Batman The Man Who Laughs) because I was waaaaay off, but in the end it was a very valuable lesson. I didn't know how much I didn't know about grading at that time. It helped me level up really quickly!
  20. I have two racks. In one rack, I only have copies of Ghost Rider 15, the with the big glow in the dark skull. My other rack is stuffed with copies of X-Men #1, Hulk 393 (green foil) and other shiny books that I buy for 50 cents or less, remind me of my misspent youth, and are fun to look at without worrying about condition. I don't sweat 9.8s.
  21. Oh cool! Given the multi-sided feature, I didn't even bother to look at the bottom, I just assumed it was a spinner. Still a super cool rack! And yeah, I dig the black on mine. A couple of slots at the bottom need to be welded but I doubt I'll ever get around to it.
