  1. Urban Moth was easily my least favorite of the Batman rip offs.
  2. It's a killer book. A major first appearance, a Marvel picture frame, a black cover, so much to love about this book!
  3. "Dirty old bag of She-Hulks" is now gonna be my go to put-down.
  4. Yes, it is my experience that records are a lot like comics: while there are certainly several pricey exceptions, the vast majority of them are worthless, and condition is key. Oh, and they're heavy, too.
  5. I'm with the "unsorted" gang. If books are organized, you know that they were almost certainly cherry-picked right away. If stuff is unsorted, everyone has a short at finding gold. My LCS does 50 cent and $1 sales every couple of months, where they line their storage room with a few dozen boxes of the stuff. It's a feeding frenzy when they open the doors, and there's always that feeling that you might be missing out on good stuff. But if it's all unsorted, you know you have as good a shot as anyone else in there. I enjoy the hunt.
  6. LOVE the Kinks! Yay, A Blasphemer Club. I feel like I'm in good company.
  7. Not a Beatles guy either. The only Beatles stuff I have much use for is the early bubblegum pop stuff. My mom was a teen when the Beatles hit, so she was fully vested in that time period, and still had the 45's and stuff. So I grew up playing those, and still enjoy a lot of that stuff. And to be completely fair, there are a handful of later Beatles songs that I like well enough. But for the most part, they just don't grab me. And I think Sgt Peppers is the most overrated record in the history of pop music. So, I'll be your fellow blasphemer!
  8. I sold my vinyl collection back when the wife and I bought our house, as I wanted some extra cash to set up the basement the way I wanted, and I also didn't really want to move all of those heavy records. I justified it by saying that I already had all of the music in digital form anyway, so I didn't need to keep the records themselves. I was satisfied with this until a couple of years ago, when I got the itch, mostly due to Mondo's beautiful soundtracks. I picked up a couple just to have as a curiosity, but that was all it took the set things off. I got a new turntable and the addiction took hold again. Records are like candy, so sweet and pretty. It's dangerous stuff.
  9. Congrats, Roy! These sorts of finds and threads are what make this board so great. Now make with the pics!
  10. Hang in there Jimmers, take care of your fur-baby, and know your pals are thinking of ya!
  11. Some pickups from the LCS Black Friday sale. Particularly happy with the early Cheryl Blossom and Spidey newsstand!
  12. Just saw the thread, I picked this guy up at an estate sale this summer. Sale opened at 9, they were handing out numbers around 7:30, so I got there at 5am, thinking I'd be first in line. Arrived only to find one guy ahead of me. Luckily he was super nice, didn't know much about comics, and was willing to let me have first shot at what I wanted. Picked this one up for a song along with a ToS 52. Haven't gotten around to slabbing them, maybe some day. Not perfect copies, but a great deal for the price.
  13. Yes, JSC and his brown-nosed girls have become tiresome as well. When he first hit the scene, he still had a bit of that Art Adams thing going on, I thought his stuff was pretty cute. But I'm long since over it.
  14. Not sure why anyone would want to see Michael Turner character nude anyways. It would just look like a leathery bundle of sticks with Bambi eyes and hardened bolt-ons.
  15. Shadow Tracker IS one of the best, for sure. I remember for the longest time the newer Joes were impossible to find around here, but Walgreens always had them. I thought about buying a few of these then, wish I had bought them all considering how they sell now. The POC figures are some of the best that Hasbro ever did for the line, but they barely had presence at retail. It's a shame.
  16. Thanks guys! I have no intention of selling at this point, but you never know what direction my interests will go over time. I can be a little adhd in my collecting "focus"! I've never slabbed a book with a detached/split cover like that, I'm assuming it can still get a blue label? But given the condition I'm assuming it'd only hit 1.0 to 1.5 anyway. Since the cover was completely detached/split, I wasn't sure how CGC's handling of the book might affect it further, and if indeed it may be "safer" in a mylar. At any rate, thanks for your time! It's a beater, but I love that cover image!
  17. Posted this over in CG, but thought it may get some love here as well. Surprise pick up from the LCS this weekend. I'd gone to the shop for a 50 cent sale, had already paid and was heading out the door when I saw this one up on the wall. Covers are split and detached, but the book is otherwise complete and was still a bargain. Now: keep it in a mylar? Worthing slabbing? Thoughts?
  18. Thanks bud! I was certainly surprised to see it up on the wall! I'd just stopped by the shop for a 50 cent sale, and while I was there I was picking up my holds. Had already paid and nearly walked out the door when I saw it.
  19. Man, the omni's always look so nice all lined up like that, same with DC's Absolutes. Pure shelf candy.
  20. We don't need ANYONE acting like our parents...but if it's between the constant -stirrer that joined a little over a year ago ( @TwoPiece ) or a 50,000+ post member who has been here for 13+ years ( @Jerkfro ) guess which one I'm going to take seriously?
