  1. I'd say of all of the creators I've met, David and Byrne were the rudest. Well, i take that back; Peter David was the CRANKIEST, and Byrne was the rudest, wouldn't even look up or speak to the fans, and I only had one book for him to sign. Busiek was pretty rude as well. I know that they're all humans, and they all have bad days, but some of these dudes have been straight up any time I've met them.
  2. Took me several years to land an Aliens 2 9.8. There were only two on the census for many years. The number has nudged up slightly, and Iceman came through for me last year as part of a trade. I don't collect many slabs, but getting that set in 9.8 was a goal, and very satisfying once complete.
  3. HA, that was the one that really got me. Next I expect we'll be called nogoodniks, layabouts and charlatans!
  4. Ragman is a great book, but the Ragman on "Arrow" doesn't really have much to do with the "real" Ragman, and he has sorta disappeared again. Kind of a waste of the character.
  5. And for better or worse, this is the truth. All that really matters is what people are throwing the most money at. (Except Hulk 180, which really is Wolvie's first appearance, by god!)
  6. Not ready for pics of the entire mancave yet, but here's one wall. This Marvel Universe poster has been hanging up at my parents' lake house for about 20 years. They're planning on doing some redecorating, so I brought a bunch of old dusty posters home this weekend. It seems right to finally have this one back home with me. It has a few pinholes, but all in all it's about as nice as it was when I first got it about 25 years ago. Finding a wall space big enough was a challenge. This one cuts off just a hair off of the bottom, but all in all it works pretty well.
  7. Niiiice. BUT, it's copper, not modern, therefore you are a bad person, and will soon be escorted out of the building by Nerd Security. Sorry.
  8. Pretty sure this book has a dedicated thread. If you haven't already posted it in there, you should. They'll plotz.
  9. Got a package from ebay yesterday, comic in a bag and board, stuck into a yellow padded envelope with no other protection. It's been a couple of years since that happened, didn't realize anyone was still rolling that way. Shouldn't have been surprised. Book was trashed. Seller gave a refund without any issue, seems like they are new. I tried to give them some tips about shipping comics, not that I think they'll listen, but you never know!
  10. We're taking our 9 year old niece to see it this weekend. I expect she'll be asking a lot of questions, but I hope she'll enjoy it. She really got a kick out of Guardians 2, even though she hasn't seen the first one, but I don't know that WW is going to be as likely to entertain kids as GOTG2 was. I'm super psyched for it though.
  11. I'm assuming that's the case as well, re: SWORD. I'm still astonished by how much better this show has gotten over the years. It was pretty awful when it started, but each year has been better, and the final arc this season was downright terrific television.
  12. I saw all of Iron Fist Season 1, and yet I still don't feel like I've seen an Iron Fist series yet. What I did see, "The Meachum Family (with Special Guest Star Iron Fist)" was pretty crappy, aside from Jessica Henwick, who is hot hot hot.
  13. I've managed to dig up about five copies of WildCATS 2 NS in the past few months (only one in high grade, around 9.6, the others have all been around F/VF), but have only found one NS of WildCATS 1. I've managed to snag three or four Shadowhawk 1 NS's, but again, they've all been mid-grade. I also managed to dig up a Deathblow 1 NS (around VF+) which is the only copy I've ever personally seen. They're fun to hunt. You don't find them often, but when you do, they're usually cheap, because they've been tossed in with all of the other Image drek. Did anyone ever confirm if there was a Youngblood 1 NS? I've never seen one, that's for sure.
  14. THREAD, RISE FROM THE GRAVE! Resurrecting this one as I just rescued my copy of this poster from my folks' lake house, where it has been hanging for about 20 years. It has some slight condition issues around the edges, some pinholes, etc, but still displays nicely. Anyway, I'm bumping the thread to see if anyone has every actually FRAMED one of these, or has any display recommendations? I suppose I could just pin it back up to the wall, but I'd like to treat it a little better this go around than I did previously.
  15. Hey, I believe in giving credit where it's due! And yeah, at the same location that yielded the Ross JSA's, I did pretty well on some other spec picks, including two minty fresh Action 775's, one a newsstand, paid $2.25 each, happily! Here they are, along with some other goodies I picked up.
  16. Indeed, JSA/Justice Society of America (two different titles, I think JSA was 2005 and Justice Society was 2009?) and the covers are by Alex Ross. He did a great run on both volumes, but those black-background, single character portraits are really dynamite stuff.
  17. I think he more or less left comics to go into animation, storyboarding, something like that. He has returned to comics a bit in recent years, doing a couple of random issues here and there, a few covers, etc. He was really active on FB for a while, and I spoke to him there a bit. His wife passed away recently and he more or less stepped away from art for a time. But if his website is to be believed, he has a project in the works, so hopefully we'll see more from him soon!
  18. Yup! I've got two or three of them, but they all have spine dings. That black cover is fierce. Still holding out for a NM or better copy in the wild!
  19. Absolutely! Nowadays I pick up pretty much any high grade newsstand of a "main character" book from the last 20 years when I run into them in the wild. I'm also trying to build high grade Batman and Wolverine newsstand sets, sticking strictly to bargain bins. Slow going, but fun to chase!
  20. There you are! Sorry for the laziness in giving you credit, but I think you're 100% right on track with these. Plus, even if they never pop at all, they're just a really super nice set of books. I bought them off the stands originally, and they were lost in the great sell off several years ago. Glad to have them back in the fold, and I'll be looking for more!
  21. There are at least 5 printings of Aliens 1, maybe more. I don't think there's any discernible difference in the printings aside from the notation in the indicia, so while I have my complete 9.8 run of 1-6, I never bothered chasing the subsequent printings because there's not enough of a difference to make them interesting. BUT, that's just me. There's probably someone out there looking for the various printings, especially in high grade. How did it grade out?
  22. This is my problem as well. I don't do SS, but I AM a bit OCD about my books, so I have in the past down the window bag and tape thing, just because the books are going to be jostling about in my bag the rest of the day, I don't want them getting trashed. I've had some creators make some snarky comments, but oh well.
  23. Sean bought several books from my thread, and was a pleasure to deal with. Easy to talk to, fast pay, absolutely no issues at all, and I'd gladly deal with again. Thanks bud! A+!
  24. Another weekend, another dollar dig, but only two AH books to show for it this week. The Star Trek books aren't worth anything, but I pretty much never see them out in the wild.
