  1. Wake me up when someone cares about Malibu comics again. If someone pays cash for Lord Pumpkin or Mantra, I'll officially join the "end times" bandwagon.
  2. I love Cosmic Odyssey, and pick them up whenever I find them for 25 or 50 cents. Not sure if they'll ever be worth anything, but I have a stack of #1's that are crossing their fingers! If not, there are worse things to own than several dozen gorgeous Mignola prestige format books.
  3. Whether they're ever optioned or not, everyone should buy up American Flagg, Grimjack, Nexus, Grendel etc because they were some of the best comics ever made! So much awesome reading in the 80's. If the values finally take off as well, so much the better.
  4. I'd like to option your singing robot picture. I smell $$$!
  5. I think the real news here is: "Mamma Mia" made over $600 million???!?!?!?!
  6. Went to Walmart to buy some tires, so I had time to kill. They had the Showcase mags, which are a neat idea, but at $10 I had no use for them. Picked up the Bat and WW related three packs. Also, if any of you collect the Multiverse figures, they had a WALL of them on clearance for $5 each. Might want to check your local store, ymmv. I can't even count how many Carrie Kelly Robins are out there.
  7. Some pickups from a local second hand movie/book shop yesterday.
  8. Yeah, resin should be the same as "cold cast porcelain" or "polystone". They have a lot of names for the same stuff. Looks really sweet! I used to collect Thor statues (the Bowen stuff) but narrowed my collection. That one is tempting though! I wonder if there's a Surfer statue to match it?
  9. Seems like a pretty easy distinction: 1. Collectors gather and curate a "collection", which has a specific purpose. ("I'm collecting Spider-Man 1-300", etc.) 2. Hoarders just accumulate indiscriminately.
  10. Wow, that looks really nice for a $90 statue. Love the base! Is it porcelain (heavy) or pvc (hollow plastic)?
  11. That's great! I remember the Christmas that I got Trapjaw and He-Man, the first two MotU figures I ever owned. Loved them so much, and also loved that glow in the dark ring as well! So cool.
  12. ebay - Batman family commissions by Noto, Johnson & Burnham Morning all! I'm refocusing my collection (my current logic being that I don't need to own anything that I don't have room to display...I'm tired of having art in iToyas and sketchbooks) so it's time to clear out the Batman family sketchbooks. Right now I've got three great commissions, purchased directly from the artist by me over the years, 3 day auctions, no reserves, ends Friday night. Beautiful full color, full body (which I don't think he does anymore) Barbara Gordon Batgirl: http://www.ebay.com/itm/253002703249?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Lovely full body Riddler commission by Dave Johnson http://www.ebay.com/itm/332273269851?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Cool, quick marker sketch of Robin by Chris Burnham http://www.ebay.com/itm/253002694670?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Thanks for looking!
  13. Also not trying to hijack Bird's thread, but real quick, I had success selling a handful on eBay, a few here on the boards, and some locally. eBay can be tricky because you have to list them in the Adults Only section, which is not searchable and therefore doesn't get a ton of traffic. Sometimes you can list them in the "regular" eBay areas, but more often than not eBay will pull the auctions, and if you do it often, they'll give you a wrist slap. Ok, back to Bird's Business!
  14. Now someone needs to buy the Aliens page I put up, before I change my mind.
  15. Yeah, I was sorta surprised and sorta sad at the same time. I love the piece, but I've had it for about 6 years now and haven't added any more Blevins to the collection in that time, so I figured it was time to cut my losses. I'm also sort of in the process of winnowing the collection down to what I can reasonably display. Having art in portfolios just isn't doing it for me anymore. So, I'm letting go of some stuff I never thought I'd sell, and so far I feel surprisingly ok about it.
  16. Yup, she's gone! I've recently decided to rethink my collection focus, and this thread sorta spurred that. The fact that I haven't been able to turn up anymore Blevins pieces in all of these years lead me to decide to narrow my focus. So, off she went. Still think Blevins is criminally underappreciated, but I'm not chasing him anymore.
  17. The collection I bought a couple of months ago had a handful of adult titles that ended up paying for the whole collection. There IS an audience for this stuff, for sure.
  18. Ha, yeah, I'd key in on THAT as the smoking clue, rather than whatever is going on behind the chair.
  19. I've been reading DK III in the form of the "deluxe" hardcovers, so I don't think I've got the last one yet. I've enjoyed it, though it doesn't come within sniffing distance of the quality of the original, obviously. But as far as amusing pseudo fan-fiction goes, it's not too bad.
  20. Frank Miller Cap cover, ASM's with Hobby covers, lots to love there!
