  1. It IS a cool book, and not easy to find. I grabbed two on eBay at random a while back, and now @Parabellumhas one of 'em. Not many floating around. The problem with this thing is that the newsprint is so flimsy, it picks up creases and wrinkles like an old catcher's mitt. Cool book, enjoy it!
  2. Hey, thanks bud! Yeah, I just completely missed the last one, so I was determined to grab this one. I have alerts set up, but must have missed the one that came up in July. Anyway, I'll give it a good home!
  3. I mostly stopped subbing back when the original kerfuffle arose from the "new" case, which is now an old case. Since then, with the ballooning TAT's, and alarming number of defects and outright destruction of books, I haven't seen a reason to reverse that decision. I haven't subbed any books this year. I subbed two last year. Maybe one or two the year before? It's not much. I have a handful of books (like, literally 5-10) that I would like to have slabbed if we were still in the "good ol' days". But things being what they are, I'll hold onto them. It's much less about making a stand and more about genuine concern that my books would be returned to me in worse shape than they were in when submitted. And that's a sad thing to have to be concerned about when sending books to a grading company. So, I'm still sticking with the mylar and fullback, for the time being. If I was in a hurry to sell, I might grade some pricey ones, but market being what it is these days, I'm in a holding pattern on my good books anyway. Maybe CGC will work out the kinks by the time the market rebounds. Or maybe they'll get worse, and the market will nosedive. Worse case scenario, I never grade anything again, but I have some cool books in shiny sleeves to look at!
  4. Sorry, didn't mean to be a tease! We're coming out of a COVID fog at our house, been a long week plus change! Anyway, this guy arrived last week. I'd been looking for a copy at a not-stupid price for a while. I missed out on an auction last month that went pretty low. This one went quite a bit higher, but I was still surprised to win it. And they even threw in a Defiance ashcan. Who doesn't love ashcans?
  5. Thanks bud, much appreciated! I was double vaxxed AND double boosted, and it still hit me like a sack of hammers. Knocked me flat on my back for a full five days, and didn't start to turn around until I got on the Paxlovid. I'm back at work today but I'll be hitting the hay as soon as I get home. Wife seems to be pretty much through her stint. So, we've mostly come through the other side, but I think we'll be taking it easy for the next couple of weeks!
  6. Those are great! Man, I'm sorry to say, our household got hit my COVID last week, and I am just now getting off the couch and back into the real world. So, the last week has been a blur, and I don't expect we'll be going anywhere anytime soon. It has been an adventure. Hope the show goes great!
  7. Thanks! And yes, I love the boxes too. But with items of this size, the boxes can be a real killer when it comes to shipping costs, so I've always got my eye open on good local deals, Saves me a ton of cash, not paying to ship something that large! I try to pick up one large item every show. Time to save up for the January show!
  8. Looking forward to rolling this and "Prey" tonight! Fun Friday! The wife isn't familiar with Sandman at all, so I'll be curious to see what she thinks about it, compared to me, a diehard fan since high school. Hopefully we both dig it!
  9. Can't wait to see this. I tend to deny the existence of any Predator films beyond the first one, but this thing has me all excited! As for the sidebar on Arnold's career, while I'd say Terminator, T2, Predator, Conan, and possibly a couple of others are "better made films" than Commando, there is no doubt in my mind that Commando is THE quintessential Arnold flick. The insanely over the top body count. The great/terrible puns. The cartoonish outsized action. It is the epitome of the dumb 80's action film, completely untroubled by concerns about insulting your intelligence. Commando is the everything.
  10. @Namtakawesome stuff! I got out of Star Wars a long time ago (there's just too much of it for me to keep up with, so I dumped all of it) but those vintage figures are an instant blast of nostalgia. Love seeing the pics, thanks for sharing. That Vader is particularly sweet.
  11. Man, I hate these inter-company crossover events! Now I have to buy Philosophy Hut to get the whole story, when I really only want to subscribe to Cornfield!
  12. I just paid for one yesterday on the bay, should be here in a couple of days.
  13. Hey Patrick! Sorry, I forgot that you're much closer to me now! Go ahead and mark your calendar for the 2023 shows. Traditionally the Winterfest is a much smaller show, and the summer show is the big one that took three rooms of the hotel. However, they're moving to a new facility next year, so I'm thinking the shows will be the same size going forward. Here's a link to their information page. https://kygijoe.com/index.html Keep an eye on that one, even though it has old info at the moment. I don't believe they've announced the dates of the 2023 shows yet, but there's always one in January and one in July. It's usually the last weekend of both months, but that can change. Just keep an eye on their site, and if you're so inclined, they update their FB page more often than the website. The new location will be Paroquet Springs Conference Center 395 Paroquet Springs Dr Shepherdsville, KY 40165 It's only about 15 mins south of Louisville, not a huge change.
  14. It is still there, though I think they changed servers or what have you a while back. They're under Tapatalk now. See if this link works for ya! https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/marvelmasterworksfansite/masterworks-message-board-f1/
  15. Lovely stuff. I once again feel that pang of jealousy that I get whenever I see a nice set of those BPRD hardcovers. I really wish I'd jumped on them at the start. At the time, I was buying all of the individual comics, and didn't think I really needed both hardcovers and floppies. Eventually I sold most of my comics in favor of switching to collections, but by then the train had left the station, and prices were up up up. Dark Horse usually does a really good job of keeping popular stuff in print, so I keep holding out hope that we'll eventually get a re-release of the early BPRD volumes, or a new Library Edition treatment to match the beautiful Hellboy Library editions. In the meantime, I'll just drool over yours! (That's metaphorical drool. I won't drool on your actual books. I'm a collector, after all!)
  16. I know Lenny has mentioned his love of the Rolling Thunder many times, so I think this mash-up is more likely than some might think! It would be an auto-purchase for me!
  17. If you do, then I definitely do as well! I think I've gotten used to this upgrading game to the point where I don't really mind anymore. Some material I'm just going to buy over and over again, that's how it is ha. I think it's a behavior I inherited from movie collecting. So many movies I bought on VHS, then Laserdisc, then DVD, Blu-Ray (which could be multiple editions, steelbooks, new scans, restorations, etc) and now 4K UHD. How many versions of Alien or Jaws or The Thing have I purchased? Who can say. So, in retrospect, it makes my re-buying of comic material seem practically sane!
  18. I'm the same way, I have the magazines, I have those oversize hardcovers, but it should be really nice to read them all again in publication order in this format. It's material I've bought over and over again, but this should be the last hurrah, I'd think!
  19. Indeed! That bad boy has been on my radar. I'm curious to see what kind of discounts are available closer to release date. IST vs Amazon, etc. May be one that I have to wait for Santa to bring, but I I can get it closer to $200, I'll probably buy it right away. Should be nice, Fanta does a great job on their archival books.
  20. I was a little critical of how long it took CLink to ship my last order, so it's only fair that I give props when due. My most recent order was in my hands a week after I paid for it, the fastest they've ever shipped to me.
  21. Thanks! I'm loving it, just have to figure out where I'm going to put it!
