  1. Thanks. Which flaws lead you to deduct points?
  2. Looks like better than 6.5 to me. How did you come to that?
  3. OK so they recognize it's not the same as a kid drawing a mask on Superman with a marker, but not that it's signed.
  4. Thanks. I was actually thinking about using something like a heated marble from the back of the front cover, so that's pretty similar.
  5. I have 3 of these and I think they all have it. They're all from the same place though, that it could be that batch. Nice to hear others have it. I might try to check graded copies and see what's what.
  6. No hidden defects I'm aware of. It's obviously not in great shape. I scraped some stuff off Batman's mouth in the logo. Staples are popped I guess. Overall dry, fragile feeling, hence the small section of page scanned.
  7. Update pics on this one. Cleaned a bit, rewrapped the spine, flattened out some of the wrinkles. Any opinions? Does it hit an 8.0 now, @scburdet?
  8. I've pretty much removed the stain, I think. What do you guys think now, @grendelbo, @Mars76, @goblinjareth? @scburdet, I saw you recently got your own graded copies of this back, did that change your opinion at all?
  9. I'm already trying an iron, but as I said I think maybe without something hard on the other side it's not flattening it. It doesn't have a white dot, it just catching the light. This is a scan of the same book:
  10. There's some sort of indentation over the lady's hat on the FC. The spine looks way worse in the picture than in my hands. The FC/BC are scans, the third is a photo.
  11. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm not asking about spine ticks. See this image:
  12. Slight wear on LL, UL, and LR corners. Slight non-CB tick near middle of spine.
  13. I have an ASM #252 in pretty good shape, consensus was about 8.0. It has some dents in the middle of the FC and I tried a regular direct press like usual but they're persistent. I'm thinking that because they go in and the paper is slilghtly compressible, they are not getting sufficient pressure to press out. Any advice?
  14. Thanks, guys. Is it mainly around the lower staple and lower left corner FC that's lowering it?
  15. I look at pricecharting, which averages the actual completed sales for raw and different grade levels Spider-Man [Platinum Edition] #1 (1990) Prices | Spider-Man Series (pricecharting.com)
  16. Small ticks near upper staple, FC. Maybe a small scrape/tear near lower staple, FC.
  17. I have been able to almost completely remove a similar stain with very small amounts of peroxide.
  18. It's on the cover, right on the Batman/Superman logo. It seems like that's where he always signed.
  19. Thanks, SC. I didn't want to press it too hard (for either cleaning or pressing) because I'm afraid those raised ridges will crack.
  20. The marks near the spine on the BC are raised. Might press out. Maybe a cover miswrap.
  21. Thanks for the tip. I was thinking of the dents on either side of Spider-Man's head, in my experience they can be removed. I guess you think doing so wouldn't improve the grade much? I guess it might sell for more if I wanted though.
  22. It would be interesting to see if any of them are reversed like this. I have two so 50% of mine are, haha.
