Hey that is still effort in a sense of knowledge isn't always free, and etc, that sometimes cgc doesn't catch it. Who is to say the buyer doesn't know or isn't getting cgc to do it right, and or, just trusts how cgc grades it. Usually when they know and send it they double check that it is correct, but otherwise can trust cgc and the results. Knowledge is power, ethics is to not under cut. I wasn't bringing that up so much but alluding to waiting for auctions if perhaps finding 9.8 that I imagine come up for sale way less lol

Still an admirable goal, even inspired me to do so, but then those thoughts diminished as the market got above me. At the time I think star wars and perhaps iron fist were unachievable... In the end I chickened out as well because of when those prices achieved were high, they still came up for sale so minimally, lower grade didn't seem possible. I feel you on that, when contemplating a complete set, because as time goes by affordable copies of any grade go out the window. Except perhaps a casual sale of the current cgc label.

It’s amazing how many they miss and people grading them are unaware as well. I’ve seen probably a couple of dozen examples not graded correctly and many go unnoticed. I’m on the east coast and talking to people at my LCS about them people know of the Star Wars variants but other than that have no clue about any of the other 30/35 Cent variants.

I doubt this is a systemic issue, but what I take away is that one should not separate the paperwork when submitting from 2 or more tiers.  When the receiving folks find one submission slip in a box, they should find all of them together.  If the two submission slips had been together, they would have found the magazine.  I'm not blaming the submitter, just saying that keeping the paperwork together would be a safer way to go now that this has come to light.

I wrote outside the cardboard, 1 magazine on that sub and 2 comics outside that cardboard. How it was missed and discarded is anyone’s guess. I didn’t view the video, so I’ll never know. I understand your statement and it was 3 items total. If I was opening packages regardless of time constraints anything flat would’ve examined. I’m very thorough. That is why I was in great panic knowing I sent in 3 items and being told maybe I forgot to add the magazine.

What if there was no one available like CGC Mike, no video or the help of this chat board members. How can I know for sure if this is the whole truth? At first I was told video was viewed and there was No magazine and questioned if I sent it in. Upon more investigation they came to another conclusion, I’ll never know what it was. Believe me I’m still upset this happened but also like Roy mentioned be Thankful there was some resolution. I’ll see how things proceed. Thanks again!

imagine if you had trusted CGC after their first response of "you didn't pack the book, we totally looked at the video... trust us" now there comes another headache.... How much did you declare the book was worth? hopefully the 4k you believe it is worth as they are likely not going to give you a penny over any declared about and will likely try and pinch some off of any value as a settlement.

Instead of a monetary settlement there are 9.2 copies available on the market for around 4k (that CGC could probably get cheaper) as a full replacement which could bring both parties closer to whole.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen. It was Minty, I declared $4000, could have been a lot more. It’s what I was hoping, sent in for a clean/press/grading. I had it many years and it’s the first magazine I ever submitted.

My question would be what do they do with the boxes? I can't imagine they reuse them so somebody must flatten them and dispose of them.

It's not as if the box was thrown out without being flattened.

Thank you for your comments. I posed that question to CGC Mike. Do you have video of my box after it was opened, where it was taken and discarded, if somehow my magazine was left inside. Was it then found away from video sight, discarded or at that point taken by someone finding it because it was away from video sight. Questions I have but I’ll wait until I hear their explanation of the events that happened.

All I can say was there were 3 items in the box, 2 comics packed separately and 1 magazine packed separately. The invoices were taped to their respective order. And sandwiched together in one box.We will see.

Because that is not how the internet works; if they give you the video and you upload it to the socials and start screaming about CGC employee's throwing away your property while management laughs at you. There will be people who see it, do their very best to track anyone in the video down, and absolutely harass them. This would go infinitely more if you are already popular or are an influencer with a massive following.

I fully support CGC showing you the video so that you can see why they don't believe you; I also do not think you should have that video in your possession after any viewing.

I hear you. I’m not interested in doing any of that. I really just want or wanted my books graded. But I’m not going to let anyone walk over me. This was the first magazine I ever sent in. I know what has happened so far has opened my eyes to do a lot of things different.

The video is probably also a privacy thing for the employees. Could lead to harassment who never agreed to be posted on public videos.

Honest question, why would they be harassed if they did nothing wrong?

I don’t think an employee error or in worst case a theft is going to end up on Access Hollywood.

But I know what was there and being told to basically off with no recourse is unacceptable. That’s basically saying we’re batting 100%, Ted Williams on steroids and good luck striking us out.

While it's nice to do, they don't have to show you any video of them receiving the books.  If you truly think someone stole the book then file a police report and have the police grab a copy of the video.  That's how we do things where I work.  We don't allow customers to review video due to privacy concerns...I guess, but if the police came in asking to see the video because they're investigating a crime then we'll even burn copies of the video for them.

I don’t know if that’s the case or not. Only video can show the action of any employees and how they handled things. But It may have to come down to that. I tend to not believe theft but possible error on how it was separated and catalogued. Why should I or any submitter be at fault of their error.

As of now, the only update I received is they are now reviewing the tape again going Frame by Frame. How long that takes, I have No idea. So I wait for an update.

I guess that's possible.  But if this was an issue, surely it would happen a lot more often, no?  Easy to track this stuff.

Maybe it does, People may just not be a member here or on social media. So it just may not be public in those cases but I’m sure it’s minimal and they do all they can do this doesn’t happen. But something happened to my magazine. I also know of another horror story I’ll share down the road. Also,  In another thread, CGC told the poster his books were lost and CGC Mike helped and they were miraculously found.

I doubt CGC , a 500 million dollar company nefariously stole that magazine.  I'm betting it was probably just accidently tossed during the unpacking... but the video stuff is just strange.

In that context, No. But a lone employee making minimum wage, they had a skeleton crew working as many of their employees were in New York. I put nothing past an individual. I just watched 50 videos of people stealing candy at Halloween, on ring cameras all around the country, taking bowls as well and most were adults even in the company of children. I’m not saying that happened but I put nothing past anyone. If only there was video footage? Hmmm…

I have also been ABSOLUTELY certain that I packed something that failed to arrive, and later found it here at the house, unpacked. Nothing creates a glitch in the space time continuum like a slice of pizza dinging in the microwave. GOD BLESS ...

I agree that happens in some instances and no one knows me and may think that could be the case. Unfortunately I wish it was. However, I had all 3 items laid out, went to another room and grabbed 2-3 Magazine boards, brought back to the table and placed the magazine in a magazine bag. Double or triple boarded it and sandwiched it up between cardboard. I then packaged the 2 comics up. I laid them together and wrapped them both up around wrap. Two orders together. Just a fact.

    Hi!

Yes all four books were packaged in a stack.  And shipped in one box.  I think I'm going to start taking photo's of what books are placed in a submission box before I send it in.

This certainly has made me think how to proceed going forward. They also make you think you’re crazy when you know you did something. I hope you get a resolution as well.
