  1. This'll be fun! Is Rudy here yet? I haven't seen a floppy taco thrown yet. Still don't regret selling a nice beta mox jet for 600ish in 2005.
  2. Hi, In my estimation each retail shop will have to: 1. Open an account with each of DC's new distributors. Typically you'll have to get an application form, fill it out, and then complete an initial order form, most likely with new account restrictions/net 30/costs/application fee/ cc#, forward proof of brick and mortar, and determine discount level based on your order(s). 2. If you also have an online site that allows your customers to order/subscribe to new floppies then it's going to be more complicated for your shop. Now your shop has to deal with a new distributor who probably has an entirely different model and spreadsheet format that you have to customize/format into your uploads when ALL have bee setup for Diamond formats. THIS IS A SYSTEMIC CHANGE FOR YOUR SITE DEVELOPERS. Apologies for the all caps rage there! Really this is going to F u p every comic website offering/previewing new releases on the planet. Thanks DC! Your shop is going to miss some orders, miss pull list books-statues-preorders due to this so don't get angry at them. 3. Adapt to this new model. (keep in mind, most shop owners are a bit old school) 4. Be open on Mondays (the most often closed day of the week for comic shops) AND host 2 New Comic Book Days according to rumor. I've heard that DC books will be available each Tuesday.(so staff must be present and prep on Monday.) All of us know that new comic book day is Wednesday (Diamond releases) that arrive on Tuesdays for sale on Wednesdays which would incite customers to come to the shop for 2 consecutive days for new releases. That's a recipe for disaster. What will be the new accepted closed day for a small LCS? ------------------------------------------------------------- Based on this change by DC, the comic book industry has entered an entirely different model. We've had a variety of ages, Gold, Silver, Copper, Modern, and now Post Diamond.
  3. This is going to be a major pain point. Adding distributors will include additional costs, not to mention ecommerce upload files will be a pain. I'll have to map an entirely new data feed for each new distributor since they likely won't all be the same. Hopefully the other distributors will actually provide easy to work with data, or even a useful app to work with.
  4. Hi all, We hope you're all doing as well as possible considering the situation. Please reach out if you have any questions and if you just want to discuss the status of the industry- Best wishes
  5. In my experience, just about every major retailer/dealer has several "whales" that help keep the lights on. Either the shop has tons of smaller accounts or a combination. Just look at your jobs accounts-it's likely to be similar.
  6. That sounds like J Jonah Jameson to me!
  7. Unprecedented? In terms of books I hope it elevates and rewards the quality books and puts an end to the manipulation/abuse by the publishers while rewarding the LCS. Diamond has not been helping especially in aiding ecommerce sales. We'll lose a decent portion of month to month surviving LCS's which I don't like. If it gets worse, what do you think the future of floppies will look like? How different is this situation than the 90's crash? smh

  11. It's definitely a great show for picking up $2-$30 book convention stock cheap. Not a place to find higher end product-lots of occasional weekend warrior dealers looking to move product cheaply. Ran into many dealers who normally setup at slightly larger regional cons (mighty con, kane county, etc...) There was a fairly even ratio of comic to toy dealers. The North Shore Comics guy (pete?) was blowing out books at 50 cents a pop, John Hauser, a few usual suspects etc...

  15. Thieves are the worst. I've lost product and goods and it was like a punch to the gut. Hope they get caught and that the seller was insured. I've always felt that there's not enough of a security presence at shows where many tables have tens to hundreds of thousands of value with no security in sight.

  18. Does anyone know why there's 2 versions of Thor and Captain Marvel intro scenes? In the film he summons Stormbreaker (which whizzes by her head bringing a gust of wind by her) while in this trailer we see Mjolnir. (2:15 mark). Maybe I missed this being discussed earlier- And then in this one at about the 50 second mark we see Stormbreaker Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
