  1. Regardless of his religious affiliation, I think the OP's original question is interesting. Of all the GA artists, many of whom worked at the same publishers as Schomburg, why was he seemingly the only one (with the exception of the Blue Beetle I posted) that depicted Nazis in hoods and robes? We all know that emulation was commonplace, but no one else jumped on the bandwagon.
  2. I do think this poses a number of interesting questions. Why did Schomburg draw an association between the Nazis and the Klan? Why did he use the hooded figures, both during the war and after, so frequently? Considering his prodigious output, did he find it easier and faster to draw hooded figures and not have to draw facial features? An interesting mystery Another attributed to Schomburg.
  3. My check cleared my bank on June 30th and I'm still waiting.
  4. I've been told by some of the Timely experts on the board that this is not the Red Skull on the cover. Don't know why
  5. One of the few that wasn't produced by Schomburg.
  6. There are some other nice covers in the Pioneer Picture Stories run. Maybe the weird title has kept it under the radar. Who wouldn't want to use their Brain Muscle?
  7. What I can't understand is why he didn't hold out for a 9.9 or 10.0 (or at least a 9.8 with white pages). I guess we all have to settle for what we can get.
  8. Well, if you're only going to have one MLJ, may as well make it a 9.8 Church copy with a Hitler cover.
  9. Still waiting. My personal record is 31 days from auction closing until books were shipped by CC. This wait may be a contender. I'm sure it is a daunting task to get thousands of lots sorted, packed, and shipped. I'm a patient man.
  10. I was told "yes" by a CGC rep, but who really knows?
  11. Another option is, as soon as you get the notice that the package has shipped, log onto FedEx and request that the package be diverted to one of their stores and held for pickup. I've done that on several occasions and the package is securely locked up. They call , text, and email you to let you know it's available for pickup. Show your ID, sign for it, and off you go. Luckily the FedEx store is only a couple miles from my house.
  12. I have mine delivered to my office. FedEx is there everyday anyway. If for some reason I want it rerouted, I do it before the first attempted delivery and it has always worked well. Still haven't shipped my wins. Maybe next week.
  13. Nice. And already alphabetized. That's service!
  14. The answer will vary from collector to collector. It may also vary from comic book to comic book. Not all 6.5s will have the same eye appeal. The tiny dot of color touch on this copy might be a nonstarter for some and no big deal for others. It is an individual preference thing. Some collectors won't touch books with tape, others shy away from anything less than white pages, and still others shun detached centerfolds. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. Similarly, the color touched book may present far better than another 6.5 without the notation. Maybe the color touch is at the spine and doesn't affect the actual image. Maybe it's on the back cover. Maybe there are significant differences in the eye appeal of the two books. Lots of variables at play. Makes it difficult to give you an easy answer.
