  1. Green man to green Nazi mutant gorillas with headbands
  2. Johnny Thunder to another Johnny Thunder (and some other new superhero)
  3. I had a neurology professor in school who, when presented with a challenging or unusual case and was asked how many times he had seen this, was fond of saying, "Well, this one and one more will make two." So in that spirit, this one and the next one submitted will make two on the census.
  4. I used to be actively involved in the aquarium hobby and these types of sensors were well regarded by those with HUGE tanks that could leak hundreds of gallons in minutes. To the OP, so very sorry for your loss. Stories like this remind me that we collect fragile things that can be easily lost to a variety of hazards. Makes you think.
  5. There are only 4 of these on the census and (as usual) I am tied for lowest graded copy. Apparently, there was a sale on red ink at the printer that day.
  6. My wins from the auction finally arrived. I think this is my favorite. The color palette and the detailing on the samurai are .
  7. Apologies if my meaning wasn't clear. I wasn't using the term "affiliation" in the way that someone might say they are affiliated with a club or organization. I was using it to refer to the religious denomination.
  8. Regardless of his religious affiliation, I think the OP's original question is interesting. Of all the GA artists, many of whom worked at the same publishers as Schomburg, why was he seemingly the only one (with the exception of the Blue Beetle I posted) that depicted Nazis in hoods and robes? We all know that emulation was commonplace, but no one else jumped on the bandwagon.
  9. I do think this poses a number of interesting questions. Why did Schomburg draw an association between the Nazis and the Klan? Why did he use the hooded figures, both during the war and after, so frequently? Considering his prodigious output, did he find it easier and faster to draw hooded figures and not have to draw facial features? An interesting mystery Another attributed to Schomburg.
  10. My check cleared my bank on June 30th and I'm still waiting.
  11. I've been told by some of the Timely experts on the board that this is not the Red Skull on the cover. Don't know why
  12. One of the few that wasn't produced by Schomburg.
  13. There are some other nice covers in the Pioneer Picture Stories run. Maybe the weird title has kept it under the radar. Who wouldn't want to use their Brain Muscle?
  14. What I can't understand is why he didn't hold out for a 9.9 or 10.0 (or at least a 9.8 with white pages). I guess we all have to settle for what we can get.
  15. Well, if you're only going to have one MLJ, may as well make it a 9.8 Church copy with a Hitler cover.
  16. Still waiting. My personal record is 31 days from auction closing until books were shipped by CC. This wait may be a contender. I'm sure it is a daunting task to get thousands of lots sorted, packed, and shipped. I'm a patient man.
