  1. I thought it was a great movie. But, I could see how it could be confusing to casual comic fans.
  2. Matt Baker in Manhunt I'm fascinated by Baker art in non-comic magazines. Here's one I recently got off eBay, Manhunt 9 from September 1953. Baker illustrated most of the stories in this issue, but the one for "The Scrapbook" is the only one that qualifies as GGA.
  3. Collecting Project for 2018 (Atlas/Seaboard, ST, Dracula, TOS, TTA, WW) One of my collecting goals next year will be to finish off some runs. I'm going to budget $2000, or an average of just over $24 per comic. My condition goal will be an average of about VG/FN. From time to time in 2018, I'll report back on how the project is going.
  4. I guess you missed out on Major Matt Mason too.
  5. I mentioned you and Flash Gordon in my thread, before seeing this. I figured you were a Flash fan. Do you collect Captain Action? I have an incomplete Flash uniform -- one of these days I'm going to complete it.
  6. Bill Ward and Some Cheesecake I got this "Origin of Torchy" print from eBay recently. I don't know who produced it or when, but it's signed by Ward. Sometimes you wonder if the autographs you see on eBay are authentic. My view is, why would someone fake it, at least for cheap stuff like this (I got it for $20). Changing subjects, I'm a fan of David Nakayama. Recently I picked up the original art for his cover of Return to Wonderland 2.
  7. Could we add Junie Prom? It's from 1947 with issues 1-7. Thanks!
  8. Annie Oakley If you're a golden age GGA collector, then Annie Oakley 1-4 are probably on your want list. I'm still looking for #4, but here are my 1-3.
  9. It's been an interesting year for Matt Baker. If I had to plot it out on a graph, prices were going up the first 6 months -- steady but not outrageous. Then it leveled out for a while, and I saw Bakers not selling on eBay, and I was able to pick up a few decent deals. Then suddenly prices are going through the roof, so much so I'm tempted to sell my undercopies (I only have a few, unfortunately). Is this what you all are seeing?
  10. I must've been looking when no one else was looking. I remember emailing the eBay buyer to cut the deal. I was in NYC doing a college visit with my daughter. She had an overnight at the school, so the rest of the family was touring NYC. As we were waiting in line (a very long line) to get into the 9-11 museum (a place everyone must go to once in your life; very emotional), I was closing the deal with the eBay seller.
  11. Sorry, been traveling for work, I just responded.
  12. Congrats! What an achievement!
  13. Thank you. I got CL 27, DS 29 and GS 12 in a package deal on eBay about 3 years ago, right before Baker exploded. Of course, people who have collected Baker for years will say his prices exploded some time ago. While I'm sure that's true, even in the 3-4 years I've been collecting his comics, prices have probably doubled for lower grade, nice presenting copies.
  14. Matt Baker's Romantic Covers My favorite Bakers are his romantic covers with no word balloons and little text (beyond the title name). Here are the ones I have in my collection.
  15. Glad you got today off. I agree, Emma is the best Gwen by far. And speaking of Miss Stone -- she has everything but the hairband in this picture.
  16. Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy Recently I got this photo signed by Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. I have a few versions of this photo. Here's one signed by Stan the Man. Here's a SDCC promo book. I think I got this in the mail. It still amazes me it went through that journey (in a manila envelope with no padding) and came back as 9.8. Finally, a version signed by Emma Stone. It's the most I've ever paid for a SS book. The seller told me he paid a lot of money at a charity auction to get a signing with Emma.
  17. Rick always finds a way to throw in some GGA This is a great book, my all time fav Black Canary cover
  18. Congrats. I'm inspired by your collection to start my own bicentennial collection. I remember that summer well, riding my bike to the drug store and seeing those banners!
  19. I can't wait to see your 19. The suspense is killing me.
