  1. Probably Last Buy Before Going to Terry's Con Won this from Heritage this past Sunday.
  2. Thanks, I forgot about that one. But I'm saving my money for Terry's con next Sunday.
  3. Recent Pickups I already have a Marvel Mystery 87, but this was so cheap on eBay I picked it up to flip someday. Or maybe I'll just keep both copies, as I love this Schomburg cover. Got this at the end of the year, and I got it from the Planet-Man himself, @Ricksneatstuff. This is a wild Jumbo cover. And I finally got a copy of this classic Eisner cover.
  4. I agree, blue cheese olives need to be fresh to taste good. They have the stuffers on Amazon for around $10. Just search "blue cheese olive stuffer." You can use it to stuff jalepenos into olives too, or anchovies, and it's easy. Sometimes the olive breaks if you try to stuff too much, but then you just pop it into your mouth and go to the next one. I'll probably stuff a few this weekend during the afternoon football game (go Vikings!), to use later at dinner in a martini.
  5. Birthday Steak and Martini, Captain Action and Matt Baker We spent this past MLK weekend at our little beach cottage where I have my comic room. Here are some pictures. I wrote on @Robot Man's journal about my Captain Action collection. I've had these toys since I was a kid (over 40 years ago) and lost a lot over the years. This is all I have left. A few years ago I mounted the outfits on thick mylar for both display and to keep from losing anything else. Here's a pic of some of my lovely lady statues. There's a variant statue of the She-Dragon that I'm looking to add someday. Here's my raw Matt Baker comics. Actually, I have the graded Bakers that you see in front, and the raw comics are behind. Here's my display of Baker's Cinderella children's book. Now turning to my belated birthday dinner, here's my dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives (I stuffed the olives myself -- they taste better than the pre-made ones in a jar). Here's the steak, a huge 2.5 lb porterhouse. I shared it with my wife and we had a lot leftover. Usually I like to grill in a smoker, but it's been too cold to go outside. So, I sauteed the steak in olive oil and garlic, and then finished it in the oven. Below is the finished steak just before cutting.
  6. I'm on a no bread, rice or pasta diet. So I compromise. I only eat the top part of the rolls, the part that's crispy and buttered with sea salt.
  7. Another Meal at NYC Quality Meats Went to NYC for work last week. Here's a picture of Manhattan as we're flying to LaGuardia. You can see a tiny Statue of Liberty just left of center. I always eat at the same place when I'm in NYC -- Quality Meats. I started with (appropriately) a Basil Hayden Manhattan. Here's my crab and avocado appetizer. I ate it with a Cakebread Chardonnay that was poured from magnum. My entree was a bone-in filet. As a pleasant surprise, it came with a little bone marrow. I got roasted mushrooms as a side; this was the only disappointing part of the meal, as it was too heavy sauced. I should have gotten the sea salt edamame beans instead.
  8. New Comic Room Pictures This weekend, the wife and I went to our beach house. This is where I have my comic room, so I was able to add and organize my new additions. One thing I did was move the big Supergirl print. Now you can see my Lady Mechanika collection, which I keep on the top shelf on this picture. Here's the flat screen TV that's under the LM shelf. I bought a new sound bar for the room. Here's the Supergirl print, which I put Upstairs. This is in front of Toys (if you're looking at the map on page 1 of this journal). Recently I finally got Gerber's Marvel guides (Vols. 3 and 4), so I've completed that little part of my collection. I'm also working working on completing my collection of the EC Library. Here are 4 sets I've gotten recently on eBay, that's in the Nook (again, see the map on page 1). Here are a couple more pictures of the Nook.
  9. This is at a Flemings?! I know where I'm going next time I'm traveling. (Wife isn't crazy about steak places, prefers Italian).
  10. High class meatloaf! Rick, we're brothas from a diff motha.
  11. Request to Terry's con veterans: To help us 1st timers, what should we expect in terms of % of GA dealers, silver, modern, toys, graphic novels at this con?
  12. I thought the True Love Pictorial 9 would close for more on eBay today (it closed at $733). I think of it as a classic Baker cover, not at the level of GCE 12, but still a classic. I thought it would go for over $1000. Anyone else surprised?
  13. It must be asked ... what restaurant?
  14. take via PM: Avengers 1 Stan lee collectibles variant Campbell cover $50
