  1. As a customer, I don't like booths you walk into, for a few reasons: (1) If there's a crowd, it's hard to navigate. I tend to just move to the next booth. (2) Sometimes it's hard to tell if the inside is a public space, or the dealer's private space. It may deal on the dealer's demeanor. So if you do an inside space, you have to make sure you're got a good "come on in" attitude. So I guess if there's no premium cost, then get the inside booth, but overall I tend to like the layout of the dealer behind his/her tables and me on the other side going through long boxes. Just my 2 cents.
  2. If You List It They Will Come - Mister Mystery #6 As I mentioned, I'm putting together my personal list of GGA grails. As I do this, some of my grails are appearing for sale. It's like Field of Dreams, but with comics instead of baseball players. First Millie #2 (above), and now an even bigger grail -- a much bigger grail for me -- Mister Mystery #6. I won this last week on eBay. I watched the seconds count down. We've all been there I'm sure. You get to 5 seconds and all the bidnapper bids come in (I can't complain as I use bidnapper as well for most of my eBay auctions). I expected to lose, but I won, with a whole $12 of room to spare to my max bid. Now if only some of those Marvel Mysteries on my grail list show up on eBay I'll be a happy man.
  3. But is he a hero or villain? Either way I love Manhunt.
  4. So many great, dastardly comics here. Here's one that's already been mentioned, but I just recently won it on eBay. The beautiful girl slowly being lowered into acid, as her hero looks on helplessly. Differently dastardly!
  5. It kills me it went so low I got busy that evening and forgot to enter my bid Baker's romantic covers with no captions are among my favorites
  6. Super Mystery has so many great covers
  7. Great cover. Girl tied to a wheel is it's own genre.
  8. I've always wished the cover was reversed so you looked at her front rather than back, but I guess this way it's more suspenseful
  9. Love it! This comic is now on my want list!
  10. C-Link Win - Major Grail! I'm in the process of putting together my personal list of GGA grails. Books that are the true pinnacles of GGA, the ones that have an impact on me for one reason or another. The list is subjective of course. My list will no doubt include comics that would be on everyone's list (what we all would agree are classic covers), but I'm sure I'll have some comics that aren't on many want lists. That's okay. The point of this is to be my personal list. I'm hoping by making the list, I can focus my collecting efforts. This project started when I looked at the 2 big piles of golden age GGA that I've bought over the last couple years. Of those comics -- probably a couple hundred books -- only a handful are ones I really, really like. The others I'm happy to have, but I'd be willing to trade all of them for 1 or 2 books on my grail list. So that's what I'm trying to do. Focus on grails and cut back on buying books I only like so-so. As it happens, one of my grails was in this month's ComicLink auction, Millie the Model #2. I like the simple art without any word balloons or lettering other than the title. Only 1.5 but I think it presents well. I probably paid too much, but I can't remember the last time I saw a copy.
  11. Girl tied to a wheel and slowly lowered into acid. Yes, definitely dastardly!
  12. There's GGA and then there's bondage. There's bondage, and then there's dastardly bondage. According to the dictionary: So show your most dastardly bondage comics. Here's a couple to get things going.
  13. Just won this on C-Link. Didn't expect to win it with my tracking bid, but I'm happy to add it to my stack.
  14. Robot, the problem is your stuff is too tame. Come on, let's see the good stuff.
  15. Lady In White Update I mentioned a major addition to my Lady In White collection (@miraclemet) and here it is, Wonder Woman 199. I've been admiring it on eBay for some time now. I checked and re-checked GPA and finally pulled the trigger. It has the perfect gothic feel and the tension of the lady in bondage, and of course there's also the movie. I wonder if Wonder Woman 2 will have Gal Gadot in a scene like this. I guess our demented imaginations can only hope. But anyway, I hope everyone is having a good summer. Here's a couple of Bettys and Veronicas to help pass the lazy sunny days.
  16. On the east coast. I can't tell you more without risking my secret identity.
  17. Tales of the Comic Book Room - Moving Things Around I'm always moving things around the comic room. Mostly it's when I get something new, and I have to adjust things to make space for it. I try to arrange things so, depending on where you are, you get a different view of things. For example, this weekend I moved things around to display this Supes/Lois statue. You can't quite see behind it, but if you move to the left you see JSC's Blackcat peaking out. Then if you turn your head to the left you see the shelves next to the window. I have a vintage Death Star there. I use it as a shelf to store things. On the top I've displayed part of my Bettie Page card collection. In my small room, I've got the shelves double parked. So behind Bettie -- and again I like the different views depending on where you're standing -- are some FF and X-Men statues. They're actually part of sets and I'm still working on them.
