  1. Hi, I am thinking this one should score an NM. There is a slight spine roll. Am thinking a good press can take that out though.
  2. I am sorting through a stash of old Dc commics I found in my personal collection. Damn, looks like DC Comics just don't have a value comparable to Marvel or at least it seems that way to me. I have a run of Justice League books from #2 to 25 and they all seem to be worth no more than a few bucks each. I collected some obscure titles like DeadShot, Martian Manhunter, The Weird, Flash Gordon, Starman and Conan the Barbarian of which I have a few #1's and #2's but they are still pretty much worthless. I doubt they will ever catch on, I am going to sort them and sell the stack of Justice League and Justice League International that I have. For now since I am just getting back into it, I will concentrate on my Peter Parker Spectacular Spiderman and Amazing Spiderman runs.
  3. But what does the label have to do with grading the book? Will people be more inclined to collect the slabs because of the lables or the book that is inside?
  4. A little ray of hope there. Much appreciated.
  5. Hi, CGC Grading Booth #1404 - that is what I found on the search page for the convention, Exhibition Hall - Comiccon de Montréal (montrealcomiccon.com) Did CGC offer on-site grading at the booth? Being local would have saved allot of money on shipping and customs and what not, would love to get some info for the next time. Thanks Angelo Abruzzese
  6. Totally agreed, the cost of pressing and cleaning and factor in shipping from Canada with a 30% exchange rate is just too much for most of these books. I prefer just waiting for an opportunity and buy a pre-graded CGC copy of the same book. I mean I would love to slab some of the books that have a little more potential, but I am just on a small private collection not some e-comic book shop through Ebay and Facebook Market place.
  7. At least it has some hope of not being a 1$ bin book
  8. Someone who is trying to be funny when they know full well what the word is. I typed it from my Iphone and the font is small .. LOL
  9. Not for trying to sell it or anything, this is most likely a low grade with all the defects
  10. I just don’t have that keen of an eye yet. To me it’s still a bit like hitting a golf ball with a 6 iron and feeling the difference from a 5 iron
  11. This one is a nice copy but needs a clean and press. The back top cover has some creasing
  12. Am really wanting this book to hit a high grade. It’s been sitting in the bag for years and I feel it’s time to get it graded and slabbed
  13. I am reading this thread and am remininded of why I stopped collecting as early as the mid 80’s. I was big on Peter Parker spectacular Spider-Man and justice leauge. The only true regret is not snatching up the Canadian price variants way back then. So now I am older and wiser and for my 60th birthday play to buy a complete run of Peter Parker spectacular series I am seeing some nearly complete described as VT to NM for 800$ plus 200 shipping. Will have to decide if would prefer picking the keys instead at higher grades than a full set
  14. Hi, I am buying a few books here and there. This one I am hoping should get a 9.2 or better
  15. I noticed that slabbed books are posted on Ebay at some wild price range gaps, some Raw books being sold for more than a Slabbed 9.2 or a 9.4 selling for less than a 9.0 of the very same book. I am thinking of slabbing some key issues of my Perer Parker Spectacular Spider-Man series but with an eye on long term retention. Maybe 3 to 5 years at least.
  16. I wanted to see if what some of those folks on Youtube with the wet cleaning are fulll of it and most likely ruin more books than anything else. I am going to agree that wet cleaning a book is a risky proposition at best and maybe unethical at worst.
  17. yes of course, but Flash Gordon #7 is just a test bed, the book was not in a bad shape to start with. I will try it with something a little more beat up and see what the outcome looks like. I am still thinking dry cleaning with a simply cotton swab is as far as it should go. The pressing is different story of course
  18. Hi, I did an experiment by cleaning a copy of Flash Gordon #7 and would like to get some opinions on the results good or bad. Before x After
  19. Finally some words of Encouragment, one thing though I am going to buy a black light flashlight to double check any more expensive books I buy. When I lived in Arizona , the only thing I used it for was spotting Scorpions at night so I could torch them.
  20. Since the thing is being the same book, same grade what other element could possibly make one buy a 500$ copy instead of a 150$ copy. Also I am starting to doubt that Ebay is the best platform to seel yuo comics, way too many fees.
  21. Isn't it crazy though? I will get it pressed and see if the actual crease comes out at least. Might get a 9.2 or something like that, can't imagine it dropping below a 9.0 though?
  22. I am seeing some wild swings in pricing on Ebay for the same book in Slabs and graded 9.X to 9.8 allot of times the book has the same grade but is Hundreds of dollars apart in price despite the same exact book and grade. Are some sellers just hoping a random xidiotx comes by and picks up his copy instead of the other?
  23. You are right, my eyesight is going downhill so I need to be really careful. So these small creases would cost .4 or .6 from the grade? It is the only spots that are problematic on the book after close inspection/.
