  1. Amazing Spider-Man 2 forecasted to experience a 72% drop at box office

Universal's raunchy new comedy Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen ("The Green Hornet"# and Zac Efron #"High School Musical"#, knocked The Amazing Spider-Man 2 out of first place at the North American box office. The R-rated comedy that also stars Rose Byrne #"X-Men: First Class"# and Dave Franco #"Warm Bodies") pulled in $18.3M to $18.5 on Friday and will finish the weekend with $46M+ to $48M cume. Audiences gave it a 'B' CinemaScore, which is actually slightly less than Spidey's 'B+' CinemaScore. Spidey will finish in second with $10M+ on Friday and is on pace for $37M to $38M. If you include The Amazing Spider-Man 2's $8.7M Thursday, the Friday-to-Friday drop is a jaw-breaking 72%.

People were like "why should I see this when I can see X-Men:DOFP & GotG"
  2. Just curious since I haven't researched it.

How can Fox and Marvel/Disney show Quicksilver in both of these films? Cap 2 and now X-men DOFP

One of the articles mentioned how Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were involved in Avengers and X-Men stories. So both films were trying to get the jump on the other to claim rights ownership.

But Scarlet Witch's reference in the X-Men was cut out, so that may be a hint where Marvel called Fox on this.

I wonder then if there are other characters that also could do a double crossover like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch?

btw from what I seen the Avengers version of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch look much cooler.

Both can use Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch in their movies.

Marvel/Disney just can't use the term "Mutant" or "Magneto" for their origins.

  3. Are you Rob Liefeld?

Haha, no. I just find it comical how many people hate and mock him while giving free passes to plenty of other people for similar issues. Kirby, Mignola, Lee, McFarlane, etc all make the same mistakes, avoid feet and drawing things they don't like, but aren't repeatedly dragged out and mocked for it:)

Liefeld has become the go-to punching bag for the industry that seems to conveniently forget all the good things he brought to comics(Cable, Deadpool, Image Comics, etc)

Other than Cable,Warpath, and Domino,Liefeld's X-Force isn't really a team mainstream moviegoers are excited to see on the big screen.

As opposed to mainstream stalwarts like Guardians of the Galaxy? Or Ant-Man? Or Dr Strange? Or Namor? Or Black Panther?

Haha, c'mon, there are plenty of questionable properties being made into movies these days whose audience is almost entirely comic fans.

All those you mention are owned my Marvel/Disney (except for Namor)

They have better writers, directors than Fox does.

  4. C'mon, is nobody excited for an actual Liefeld version? This thread seems to mostly be people bashing him with the same weak jokes and arguments that were old in the 90s:)

The end of New Mutants and the beginning of X-Force were very fun and badass books. People read it and loved it, which is why the speculators showed up and pushed it to 5 million copies without alternate covers and foil embossed BS.

Sure, it went downhill soon enough, but the run of NM93-NM100 and XF 1-4 were solid books and we'd be lucky to get something as cool made into a movie.

Instead we're stuck with the tired old Ratner/Singer sanitized and castrated X-Men movies of late that pale next to the comics...

  5. Pretty much exclusively moderns. I've been accused of being on the Image bandwagon, and that's fine with me. I've always been a big superhero junkie, but as I got older I lost a bit of interest in the superhero comics. A few years ago my room mates brother was talking about a few Image comic series he was reading and they didn't sound like anything I had ever read before so I gave them a shot. I just bought digital and read trades for a while, but decided early last year to start building a collection. Once I got the idea in my head that its technically possible to turn a profit with smart collecting, I've been hooked :)

Currently enjoying Manifest Destiny, Sheltered, Rat Queens, Chew, East of West, Peter Panzerfaust, Day Men and the new Southern Bastards. You know, those highly hyped mainstream titles that get all the attention. Cant imagine why anyone says I'm a band wagon guy, hehe.

Marvelfangirl welcomes you to the boards :hi:

Some of the best written books are from Image books.

  6. Zod, in this particular incarnation, struck me as not necessarily an evil man, but a man ofhe had a particularhe had his orders, he had a mission. He was a zealot of sorts, but he was a zealotagain, correct me if Im wrong but he didnt say, I want to rebuild Krypton, and then come back and destroy this little planet. All I want is to rebuild this planet. And the only reason Im blowing everything to bits here is because youve got what I want, and youre not giving it to me. So please, give me my people, and Ill leave.

That last statement is interesting, as it appears Quesada didn't catch Zod's final intention for Earth - destroy everyone on the planet and remake it into Krypton.

    doh!

Zod was going to destroy Earth to make a new Krypton.

Krypton had it's chance to live, but the people died by their leaders' stupidity.

Superman wasn't going to let his adopted home be destroyed.
