My kind of pedigree, Chicago is (show’m if you got’m)
Timely replied to Cat-Man_America's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
True. Only Chicago Copies owned by George had the coding. He coded ALL his books, including non Chicago's. -

No, George owned a lot of Chicago Copies, but not every George Olshevsky copy is a Chicago Copy. He had a complete Timely collection, about 1/3rd were Chicago Copies. -
Airboy #1 cover by Tim Truman for sale.
Timely replied to Timely's topic in Original Comic Art Marketplace
Anything's possible Gene. I would argue that your Airboy #6 cover being an "early" Airboy cover from 1986 is irrelevant. This cover is from 1987... not much of a difference at all! -
Airboy Meets the Prowler #1 by John Snyder III & Tim Truman. Airboy meets another 1940s-era Eclipse character, the masked crime-fighter known as the Prowler. An excellent, well-crafted cover with nice perspective. The only recent comp is Airboy #6 by Truman that sold in Heritage for $3120, but with this being a #1 and better art IMO, I'm asking $3500. Free CONUS shipping. Paypal or check.

[CLOSED] Dynamic Science Stories #2 1939 Hitler cover!
Timely replied to Timely's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
SOLD! -
Shipping with insurance to US residence is $10. posts trump any & all PM's For sale is what may be the 1st Pulp Hitler cover. It is dated April, 1939... 2 years before the 1st Hitler cover in comics, (Captain America Comics #1 dated March, 1941). Also, this cover contains torture, bondage & devil/demons. Pretty intense! It is complete. Condition is about VG, maybe a tad better. There are the typical edge bends & small tears, along with a few small stains. There are no spine splits or pieces missing. Page quality is quite good! Off-White pages! $125.00 Paypal or check only.

Although Allentown books are rarer due to the small size of the collection, their state of preservation is far below that of a typical Mile High from the same era. Most of the Allentown books are Cream to Off-White or Off-White while most Mile Highs are White or Off-White to White. Out of the 135 Allentowns I'd guess only 10 or so are better than their Mile High counterpart.

I've bought several $100K+ pieces from him with no problems. -

Here is an Edgar Church sci-fi painting from 1910. To my knowledge, it's the only sci-fi piece of his to survive! https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1187371 -

Who/what do you wish certain artists had drawn?
Timely replied to exitmusicblue's topic in Original Comic Art
Matt Fox doing any Marvel superhero title would have been awesome (although Dr. Strange would have probably suited him best), but he only did the monster & sci-fi stories backup stories, such as these. Also, I wish there was more than just 1 Golden Age Basil Wolverton superhero cover. -

How do ya figure that? Guide on the MMC #52 is $4900 and it sold for $28,800. Pretty sure that's over 5.8 times guide! -
To have substantial growth, you need a company, a title, an artist or a character that is relevant & will STAY relevant! The more of those 4 categories your art has the better your art will carry forward. For example, a Harvey page of Speed Comics #19 by Arturo Cazeneuve of Speed Taylor sold for $109 in Heritage. Irrelevant company, irrelevant title, irrelevant artist, irrelevant character. Irrelevant $109 sale. Does anyone here think in 100 years from now when people talk about Spider-Man, Batman & Superman, people will say, "who?" Doubtful! 200 years from now? Doubtful! If you are worried about the value of your art, and nothing else, you better switch to mainline pieces now.

What's the highest graded Marvel Comics #1?

I was 2 seconds away from putting in a bid on the Mars Attacks cover by Hildebrandt. At $4800 total I just couldn't trip the bid. It's a great image and is huge, but the piece was just finished in March. Ultimately no one bid on it, so perhaps it was a bit overpriced.

Definitely NOT the SF Copy!

CGC and eBay Partner on Expert Review Service
Timely replied to Aweandlorder's topic in Comics General
What will CGC do when a likely 8.0-10 grade estimate is given, the buyer gets it and sends it in to be graded and the centerfold is missing? Grading from a scan is never a good idea. -
I decided it's best to put this experience behind me and move on. I wish the best for Mike and hope he does better with the next guy. No one is perfect, this deal went south but I'm sure he has lots of satisfied customers.
