  1. Apparently this story is getting traction. My dad just called me asking me why anyone would pay over 3 million dollars for a single page from a comic! Lol
  2. I thought the Punisher WJ #3 cover inked by Jim Lee was a steal. Best Buy of the auction at $23k imo.
  3. It means most Spider-Man art and Zeck art just went up!
  4. I do find it interesting the inking of the page is attributed to 3 guys, but they don't know who did the pages! John Beatty, Jack Abel or Mike Esposito. Personally I think the inks are by Abel. Scott, as an inker, do you think it would be easy to know for sure who's inking style was applied to Zeck's pencils?
  5. The consignor should be thinking he owes Uncle Sam 28% of his profits! That should help fix a few roads here & there!
  6. No one was expecting a 3 million dollar result. I just asked 3 long time vintage comic book collectors (not into OA) what they thought the page sold for. The highest amount of the 3 said $50,000, the lowest said $30,000.
  7. Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars #8 Story Page 25 $3,360,000
  8. No, not me. I decided to let the others fight over it. I'm happy with the 5 other GI Joe covers I have!
  9. Correct on the first number and FC. The “28” represents this is the 28th comic in the collection from that publisher.
  10. I know how to interpret it. I was the one who broke the code when the main collection was submitted to cgc.
  11. If we can find some books with an “F” on them, it will really shed light on this collection. Then these KFC books would truly be finger-licking good!
  12. If you want 80’s nostalgia that will maintain or go up over the long haul I’d go with Transformers #1, G.I. Joe #1 or #21. Since this is a display piece for you, I’d go with the #1’s. Both have great covers, are 1st appearances and are #1 issues.
  13. This is an illogical fallacy towards any item of considerable value. Take the Action Comics #1 or AF #15 that both sold for about $3 million to your local 7-11 and try and make a sale to anyone who walks in. Stay there all day! See the largest offer you get! No one will offer more than a few hundred bucks for it, maybe $1000 if you get lucky! Take a $400k Lamborghini to a Kia dealership. Stay there all day! See the largest offer you get! There is a place and a time to show and to sell all of these things. Don’t expect others to value or be able to afford high end goods everywhere you go. That’s why auction houses exist. That’s why Lamborghini dealerships exist. You won’t get much art appreciation if you take a million dollar piece of art out of its environment either. Right place, right time, or it’s all artificial to some degree.
  14. My dad has a house full of car parts for exotic older Lamborghini’s and other sports cars. “This bolt is rare and is worth $500, this one I can get $40. This carburetor set is worth 20k.” Now imagine a house full of this! I keep telling him we have no idea what these car part are and what they are worth. It would take years for him to document all the stuff. Some parts guy will come into this house and buy everything for pennies on the dollar.
  15. Can’t tell you anything about it, but if you want to sell or trade your silver dollars for comics let me know!
  16. The spines should be on the bottom otherwise gravity and shifting could start to cause tears at the staples!
  17. Just a guess here, but the origin page of the red and blue Spider-Man costume is worth more that the origin page of the black costume. The MSSW pages are cool, but I wonder if the 1st appearance pages are worth more than these origin pages, which appeared many months later?!?
  18. I added to my Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Batman and GI Joe collections this year. I also picked up a few outliers like my MCP Wolverine cover.
