This is my CGC 5.5 first time scanned.

I'm very surprised to see issue 168 highest grade is a 9.6 even with the white cover.

I heard that. I inspected the scans very closely for days (off and on). The BC crease was EX-tra long and not to mention the 2 lower right creases that broke color on the FC. To me, the book looked "wavy" (ie, not flat) on the splash page scan. As kimik mentions, the stain and rusty staple should have sounded a smoke alarm to any potential bidder. I emailed the seller (twice) and never got a response. The PQ, however, is very nice. Overall, a very risky book. People love to gamble. Ouch...that rusted staple. Anyone recall a raw 6 ish that sold on Ebay a few months ago for almost $5K.

I don't know if anyone saw that long back cover crease. I would give this book a 4.0-4.5 the best. Someone must have been confident it would be a 5.0 minimum.

Definitely. It is the 3rd most important SA DC. SC4 reminds me of GA Marvel Comics 1. Both books reach to a high point in price and demand and still considered a GRAIL book. SC4 was highly on my list many years ago over a AF15, but I never pursue it. Looks like SC22 is battling SC4 for the DC SA #1 spot and I guess BB28 is part of the top three DC SA for you. I will give you a hint. I consider B&B to be #2 on the SA DC key list, only behind SC #22 at #1................... Are we talking about June 2011?

According to GPA, the Boston 9.4 sold in 2006 and now a 9.4. (thumbs u did you mean a 9.0 sold in 2006? because I don't see a 9.6. What got me to notice was the Boston Pedigree with a high cert# that looks like it was certified recently so I did a little research. It is a crack, press and resub...I am surprised there aren't more outcry from others...maybe not yet Looking at that book I'm surprised that it would have received a 9.0 in the first place. Corners look really nice to me. Looks extremely sharp now...definitely should be more flat (pancaked).

I know the Boston 9.0 that I owned was straight resubbed for a 9.2. If it was pressed and became a 9.4, guess who left $20k on the table? When you ask why people press, you've got a $20,000 answer right there. Sorry to hear it was your former copy as a 9.0. It got an upgrade and still has it's pedigree status. I wonder if advance pressing technique will get it a 9.6 later.

Showcase 22 didn't do much the until 2008 and became explosive in 2009. If you are planning to own it again, you can still purchase graded 2.5 and under for less than $1K.

I sense you are waiting to add SC22 6.0+ to your collection someday. With the profits you made from all your SC22 flips...your future 6.0+ should almost be a freebie.

I wonder if it was ended and sold to someone as you said or maybe the seller decided to keep it.

With all due respect to the owner, this particular copy has terrible eye appeal. Lots of color rub and dirt. I suspect the BC is worse as it is not availabe. Terrible scan for an expensive book. The large date marking is a minus for this copy. The poor scan does weakens the eye appeal. The pages does look a bit tan on the edges. Maybe we can ask for a better scan to determine the overall copy. The seller did mention it's rare above a 6.0...I wonder if the seller is reading the SC22 club thread.
