Paid a little more than I was expecting, but still a nice addition to my sporadic run. HOF #6:
Great pick up! That is a beautiful copy.
Thanks Jeff. Not the most gruesome cover for a HOF, but had to get it. They seem to be getting harder to find in higher grades. Now, if only I could find #17 in 9.6 to fit my run.

No Torches, sorry. But this Timely just arrived ... finally. Super Soldier.

I was looking at the CGC census under Timely Comics.
As of today, over 8,500 Timely's have been graded.
Out of all the mainline Superhero Timely titles, only 1 book has been graded 9.8 by CGC.
It may not be a Marvel Mystery...but it's still pretty special!
I was wondering when you might post it. I've been waiting ever since I saw the census. (not that I care about YA's ) Uber-superb West! (thumbs u

Holy moley Silvers, nice stuff! Awesome!!!!

You guys are killing me with this plethora of Timely goodness! Sooooo sweeet!!!!

Someone on the boards once said, "Wait until you get your first Timely, it's hard to stop." I can see what he meant.
Not to worry ... it gets worse. Then you get stuck in the GA Forum and start looking at other titles and publishers ... doomed I say.
It reminds me when our daughter was born. I'd go into the office and say that I can't get any sleep, I'm tired, she's consuming all my time, things are always going on with her. My co-worker looked at me without any sympathy whatsoever and said .. "it gets worse". So it is with Timely and other GA in general.
Sweet book! (thumbs u

A recent arrival from Bedrock City, TX:
Nice! I wonder if her brass top gets too hot in the blazing sun.

Marie Severin did such a wonderful job designing the color for these latter EC covers.HOF #28 white pager. Maybe in 5 or 6 more years I'll have my run complete.
I agree wholeheartedly. I can't even begin to name or describe some of the colors and color palettes she developed for EC. She certainly brought a bold, fresh, and memorable face to some of their publications. She was and is absolutely first class.

Of course, completing my HOF run might go faster if Cheetah would stick to Fawcett's and Nedors and such. jk my friend

I saw this beauty listed on CLink, but really didn't give it much thought based on the ask price, and on rejections on several recent offers I made for other books that were above what I would call FMV. It's sweet!! Congrats!!

(P.S. .... I'm very jealous)

Speaking of All Winners, I finally have my favorite duo of issues from the run reassembled. Haven't had these two together since 1995

Some really awesome books these last several pages of the thread! Great stuff!!!

Just added these two Harvey (Family) mid-grades to my collection. All New 7 with a Schomburg bondage cover and All New 9 (Big Apple Copy) chock full of Schomburg Japanese solders with "death germs"
Great books (thumbs u
I've always preferred them over Young Allies
Thanks Ciorac ... but I actually like Young Allies better. With Bucky, Cap and Toro involved it has more legs for me. I think there are several YA issues that have some really classic covers. But that's just me talking.

Thanks Adam. I had to pick up a raw GFC of HOF #28 (VF/NM to NM-) thanks to you. Not an easy one to find. While I've gently touched the edges, I won't open it until I have a pair of gloves to wear. It is sooooo news stand fresh. Just incredible! Thanks for pushing me to get outside the "plastic" envelope on these. Now, that doesn't mean I'll be cracking any other GFC slabs soon.

I only sent in two comics from the large collection that I recently acquired. I'm certainly glad I did!
The 9.4 is a DOUBLE COVER! And the 9.0 (tied for top census with the Crippen copy) has off white to white pages

here's my #1 pre slabbing - I've had a few #1's but this one is the first I've had with uber whites and a little higher grade.
Stunning book. Killer spine, gloss, looks like it still has that "wooble" in the pages its so fresh. What does it grade out at?
+1 It looks really nice! From the scan it looks like it retained it's gloss incredibly well, and the corners appear razor sharp. And hardly any spine wear? It would be nice to know what you grade it, and what it comes back slabbed. Sweet!! (thumbs u

Late SA Avengers that came in recently; both are upgrades. Avengers #31 (Rocky Mountain) I picked up from the CL auction. Avengers #39 I picked up during the Pedigree auction. Slight mis-wraps on both, but I'll live with it.

Just had to repost this since I have a better scan on hand.
Well done!! Sweet! (thumbs u

The certificate for my HOF #8 is listed 12/12. There are only two 9.8s in census. So, who's to say which copy is "better" based on the certificate? To me the certificates are wonderful to have if only from a hobby perspective - just knowing that I have little piece of history from those few day Russ Cochran, Bob Overstreet and Bill Gaines got together. The certificates regardless of the number rank are icing on the cake!
Show me your Timely's and I'll show you mine. Have a Cigar...

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Okay ... is it just me ... but should I also think of The Fonz when I see this cover?
