    Come back in what?

    Spoiler

My guess? a pile of ashes considering he was last seen traveling into the sun at the end of Eternals. lol   His character in Eternals is rumored to be showing up again very soon but take that with a grain of salt since its just a rumor.

Does anyone approximately know when the 9.8 30 cent variant sold that is shown on CL as sale pending, sold?

It shows the sale as $30K. Does CL show sales at the listing price, or lower prices offered?

I've never paid attention to that before.

The highest sale on GPA, last year, was about 25% of that, and that really seemed shockingly high to me.

The 7500.00 9.8 was a great price and Ive had that one for a while now(that gpa was when I bought it) I bought that copy and the one on comiclink was just purchased within the last 6 to 8 months or so. I bought that one too. Thats my old copy that I finally came to an agreement to buy back from the owner. The 30k copy, It was on my list of books to buy back for my collection that i had previously sold. The last 9.6 sold for close to 7500.00 so its right there with what i paid at the time for that 9.8. I believe there are still only 3 or so on the census in 9.8.

    Hello!!
Just bought my grail, Marvel Spotlight 5, in an old cgc case (2005)in a 4.5.
The case IS that the top label IS missing.
The Seller IS a store, and they can do a full refund( the book was a deal). Or reslabb the book for me, for free.
My questions are...IS It normal that the old cases loose the top labels?
Would you get a refund or just reslabb the book?
Or just get the cost of reslabb as a refund or store credit?

For last, can CGC send a top label? Since in these old cases, that label goes on the outside?

    Thank you very much!!

Wouldn't hurt to have one of the newer cases but they do tend to fall off on those older cases. I myself, wouldn't sweat it.

  5. Glad I went to go see it last night. Between myself and the other two people who went with me, we gave it a 7, 8, and 8. Definitely laid out the characters fairly well and the story was a bit of a deviation from typical Marvel movies but different did not translate into bad like many of the critics said. Its crazy when critics are reviewing at low numbers and the general audience is saying something very different. Currently, critics are at 44% with 328 reviews and general viewers are at 80% with over 5,000+ verified ratings. This is when I swear critics just copy and paste from each other rather than going to see a film and posting their own opinions. For what it's worth, the movie was something I'd go and see again. I'm tempted to go back this week. 2c

Saw the movie today. I’m scratching my head about the negative reviews and my tip is that the general public won’t care less about rotten tomato reviews. I’d put this in my top 5 of MCU movies and I recommend going to see it.

Reviews don't mean much to me these days. The last Hellboy movie was dubbed the worst comic book movie ever by many sites. Are you kidding me? Sure Milla Jovovich wasn't a good choice IMO but the movie iteself was much better than several comic book movies I've seen. Personally, I liked it at least as much as the first two Hellboy movies and waaaaay more than Black Widow. Eternals tickets for this coming Thursday. Jolie and Hayek as well as a few others, are signed up for multiple movie contracts with Marvel. Eternals aren't going anywhere. (thumbsu For that collector out there who owns the third Eternals 1 cgc 9.8 30 cent variant...you should totally hit the panic button and sell it to me before its totally worthless forever!:1514325239_yeehawemoji:

    Thanks @Timeless icons

Let's say it would be a 9.4 without the bubble - what do you think the grade would be as is - without pressing out the bubble.  Thanks again

     quite welcome. (thumbsu

I'm sure it would be severely impacted since stains are brutally punishing when it comes to knocking down grades and I'm thinking the bubble was from liquid of some sort. With the bubble, I'm definitely guessing sub 9s.

Apparently when this was slabbed they did not bother to fold that little piece back down. It is clearly attached. It is driving me nuts.

do you guys let like this go or do you crack and fix?

Perhaps contact cgc and maybe someone would have you send it back so they can place it in the slab the way it should have been? Might be worth it in order to be happy with it. If I get a book and it has an issue I can't live with, it goes. That would drive me insane even though its a small issue.

  9. Tough to say. The first two pics didn't seem to show enough detail (then again, it could be my eyes). Looks like the bottom left spine corner was a tad blunted from the first pic but if that's a droplet of water on the "Y", it could just be pressed out. If there's no stain in the back where that bubble is and assuming the spine has no stress marks, I'd say 9.6 (after press) as long as that bottom left is the only visible issue. Seeing that a 9.8 can have an allowable defect, you could get lucky. Great book. (thumbsu

This article from 2016 references the 5 below packs as do the comments section....

Thanks for the link. Pulled this from their article. "The rumors that this book is part of the five below curse didn’t stop it from charging up the charts this week." One poster claimed he found one in a pack but I'll see if I can find some definitive proof somewhere. I google searched 5 below packs containing the book and haven't found a single image so if it did happen, there couldn't have been too many. If it did, someone had to have posted factual info on this somewhere. The variant purge and them being placed into those packs is believable of course. I'm just looking around to find some hard evidence somewhere but it could prove challenging.

I don't know if there are pics floating around but when they were out they were discussed at length on these very boards.  An as far as the variant dump prior to that which the book was also in , somebody posted a screen shot of the book on the list.

I would say there are at least twice as many copies printed of the book, based on the census population alone though.  700+ is a lot for a "rare" variant.

    -J.

After you had posted they actually were in said packs, I believed it but was curious to see one of these packs. Googled it but didn't see anything.

Without any definitive evidence on either side, its anyone's guess how many or few there really are. Even if the numbers are 3k printed, that's still miniscule when compared to the standard copy. It would be nice if print run facts were always reported, rather than leaving everyone to guess. (shrug)

Actually yes the UF 4 variant was indeed put into 5 below packs, and that was after it was also liquidated in a diamond variant dump.

I don't know how or why anybody thinks there are 1400 copies out there, given these circumstances and the already 700+ slabbed copies, the number is certainly much, much higher than that.

    -J.

Any pics on these value packs? I never knew such packages were offered.

I'm pretty sure something was lost in translation here because Ultimate Fallout #4 is not unimportant contents.  It's the other books dominating this topic that are primarily rare variants of books which are worthless in terms of regular editions (due to the contents being unimportant).  Ultimate Fallout #4 is a key issue in its most common form (direct edition), it's even a key in its reprints (the ones from 2011).  Every other book in this topic, particularly those back on page one, would have a very hard time finding a place in the "important contents" discussion.

You're right, I misunderstood. I thought you felt UF4 inner content wasn't relevant. In that case, I agree with you completely. (thumbsu Some of the variants do have me a bit baffled in terms of price vs substance.

It's fair to prefer the artwork on one cover over another, but when prices reach a certain point, you could have original art of the same (or higher) quality from the original artist for the same price as one of the dozens of copies of the printed cover.  I don't know many copies of art that sell for more than originals by the same artist, so I'm not sure about the long-term value of books which are valued that highly for cover art and not contents.  Perhaps these variants will retain their value and the price of original art will skyrocket, but it seems strange when a printed copy of cover art sells for $20,000+ and the artist doesn't charge that much for original art commissions.  Markets always have something overpriced and something underpriced, so it's always a guess what's overpriced, but I don't see $20,000+ for any modern comic with unimportant contents being a long term winner.  Maybe when it's as old as Suspense #3, it should be $20,000+ if it's that rare (and the contents don't matter), but these books aren't old enough to vote. :kidaround:

In terms of unimportant contents, I'd have to disagree when concerning Ultimate Fallout 4 in any capacity as I think its one of the most relevant books of the modern age.:foryou:  Art has its place but far more people collect comics due to availability alone and I agree with you that the original art should exceed its comic counterparts but if my choice was getting a random OA piece from Djurdjevic or getting an incredibly low volume UF4 9.8 variant copy of the first appearance of Spider-Man (Morales), I'd go with the variant for the combination of the relevant contents and the variant cover exclusivity. Personally, I don't collect variants that much unless its an important issue to me (Young Avengers 1, UF4, World War Hulk 5, etc...) but I feel that UF4 variant and the newsstand copies as well, still have plenty of room to grow. Being a 75 year old book or being a 7 month old books isn't a factor to me (that's just my personal view) if each book is still very low in availability, then its irrelevant in my eyes as long as it's an important issue. Comichron estimated there to be roughly 1,400 copies (U.S) of the variant and for a regular spider-man book, that's insanely low but for a big key Spidey book, I think the variant/newsstands will easily maintain value. Their explaination and rationale in terms of printed figures, seems to be the best answer that I've see so far, when concerning the estimated print run on the variant but even if its over or under that figure, I'm pretty sure it isn't by much. While all books can go up or down, I don't think we're even close to seeing either of those books top out, even at these prices. Miles is a big hit with a lot of people and a lot of kids too. Kids that will grow up with him as they are right now and collectors beyond the speculator market as well. Not that this constitutes the sum of his popularity but the Spider-Verse movie was pretty decent and his character was likeable or at least to me anyway. lol

  15. While I can appreciate that point of view concerning variants being printed with limited quantities in mind, I still prefer the variant cover. Even if numbers were exactly the same in terms of print runs and graded census copies, the newsstand copies still share the same cover as the standard prints so there's more of them. The variant cover seems more appealing, given there are far fewer of that particular cover and the cover art, to me at least, is also more appealing. Clearly, the newsstand copies are harder to come by and the gpa reflects that as prices keep climbing in all grades over previous sales. 3k for a 5.0 is quite impressive.
