That's funny. 2 of us here in this thread have owned that X Men 12 and lamented getting rid of it. I'm guessing you're the one that bought it from me via HGC.

I do believe I did, but without looking up my receipts (buried in my tax folders), I couldn't say for sure. It really was a beautiful copy. Still have it listed as sold under my "notable sales" link.  It won't be there too much longer though. New site launches 2023. It's interesting to see where the prices on many of the books still listed here, have risen to.

A car is a liability, Comics, Business Stocks and Real Estate (rentals) and anything else that puts money in your pocket or appreciates over time are assets or , if you wanna be rich, buy more assets. Stop buying cars Michael  haha

lol you know that's been my Achilles heel for years and it's definitely true but cars make life more enjoyable. This last toy was my dream car so going foward, I'll be concentrating my efforts to book building once again and this car will be staying with me for quite a while.

That's insane. Where's did I put my time machine? Can't believe that's going for around10k more than a starter AF15. That's cool though. Looking like it's going to be the new generation's Action #1.

What I wouldn't pay for a time machine...the list of books I have sold to fund new cars is insane. What's worse is that I still can't help myself.

A questionable result given that a 9.8 CBCS just sold for half that last week.  I understand CBCS sells at a discount to CGC, but it isn't that much of a discount.

I thought the cbcs sale was on the low side to begin with. I was expecting it to have been closer to 30k. The discount is expected for sure. I think when it comes to bigger keys, that gap is definitely stronger. More risk when regrading perhaps.

I am going to be going through Naval ODS in Newport Rhode Island this summer.  After I finish I will be stationed in Bethesda, MD before being stationed in North Carolina.  Does anyone know if are there any comic shops in these aresa that would have great silver age walls - CGC comics?  I would love to go in a shop that might deal in the bigger books.  My dad talks about the good old days when he'd go in comic shops and they would have runs of early Spidey on the walls etc ... he was referring to some shops he went to in Cincinnati and the suburbs of Washington, DC.  He talks about going in a shop as a boy near Silver Spring, MD and they had X 1-3, Spidey 1-3, Avengers 1-3 and so on.  He also talks about a shop he went to in South Florida 30 years ago - and they had all sorts of golden age books - Timely's and so on. I'm not even sure comic shops exist anymore that stock or display that kind of stuff. There are not a lot of comic shops in my home area of South Georgia - but I have never seen any comic shop with vintage/CGC inventory ... they primarily just have modern stuff and maybe a few CGC silver/bronze books.  Anyway - I would love to go in a shop that deals in the bigger vintage key books and am thinking maybe there is a shop like that in the New Englad area.  I know stores like these in the age of internet have probably gone the way of Blockbuster/Sears/K-Mart/ and Circuit City, but I know these sorts of stores are still out there - for example A-1 comics out in California would appear to have that sort of inventory in stock and display.  So if you know anything about a shop that would be offer me that sort of experience - in the Newport Rhode Island area or Washington, DC area - I would love to know about it - so I could visit.  I see there are many shops in New England, but I am looking for the silver/golden age experience.  Thanks for any replies.  PS I posted this in general - but here on the Silver Board - if you know of some shops like this anywhere in the country - chime in - because I would like to put visiting them on my bucket list, so I could perhaps visit them one day.

Not much out here in Newport RI as far as good silver age back issues. About an hour or so away though, Superworldcomics has quite a bit of bronze/silver/gold and they are well kept. I do believe you need to call Teddy V for an appointment first. Most of the LCS around here are usually stocked with bronze to current.
