  1.

IF the gut feeling actually holds up, ie. that there is indeed 300 copies of tec27 and 300 of A1. Then we are looking at a rather amazing collector 'discipline are'nt we?'. I mean if there is a total of 600 books in existence; and an average holder of one of these books could cash in around 400 Kish (average price for 1 item of the population) - then it is rather amazing that almost no one seems to be actively looking to sell any of these 600 items? If I had 400 K lying around I wouldnt be posting here. I'd be on the phone to Comic Connect or Heritage. Thats for sure

  2. It's the 100K question isn't it? One one hand it sure feels real, the books we love really are desired and scarcish collectibles with wider and wider public acceptance. But we all know too well that the industry, if not the hobby, gets narrower and narrower each year -- even given the success of the movies.

    does not compute:

how does 'reaaly desired scrce collectibles with wider and wider public acceptance'

    translate to

'hobby gets narrower and narrower each year' .

    ?

  3. I think Pep #22 is arguably a top 10 book. It's on part with Action #7 and Tec #31 but sales happen to rarely it's tough to plot a trajectory, especially in this market where everything seems impossible to predict.

But if past sales are any indicator, it's a top 10 book .

Archie #1 is a bit more common.

I think grade for grade a tec 31 and action 7 would out perform pep 22, but likely not by much...that's why I would consider it a "top 10" book...I just chose 2 books (as8 and whiz 1) that I think are still due for larger pricing increases... not sure pep 22 will have a "large" increase relatively speaking, over next few years

so you see whiz 1 spiking as we approach movie release ...?

  4. Dear Gator,

Has Tec #31 surpassed Batman #1 in FMV?

Currently, what are the Top-10 most valuable GA books?

not even close. Batman 1 in 5.0 would be about 180-200k and tec 31 in 5.0 about 125... as an example.

Too 10 ga books still much the same (this list in no particular order)

    Action 1

    Tec27

    Superman 1

    Batman 1

    Cap 1

    Marvel 1

    Action 7

    Tec 31

do you see the margin narrowing between supe1 / bat1? (cf. the heritage sale)

  5. Dear Gator:

Should I seek counselling for my compulsion to acquire vintage collectibles, or should I continue devoting the money I'd spend on counselling to acquire more vintage comics and other memorabilia? I'm leaning to the latter course of action.

    :insane:

its a good addiction...run with it!

    I know of a so called "comic-shrink".

They usually know how to deal with such compulsions

  6. Tec 28 blue label 8.5? Seriously...?

OMG. That will be one to watch.

    Please stop watching :makepoint:

Kidney sold ! Ready to bid !

before you decide to strip yourself of vital organs, please dont overlook the following crucial feature in #28

BATMAN DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE COVER !

  7. Wonder Woman #1 seems to have overtaken Sensation Comics #1 in value. Do you see this as sustainable long term trend?

Also, sorry for a silly question, but what is a "Voldy" book?

    Thanks!

he is referring to the infameous Voldemort holder.

and thats is one big can of worms....

  8.

    I was asking for

    Daredevil 1, cgc 9.4

He said no and wanted my books, plus $2500

The poor thing was obviously "stan-lee'd".

That kinda accounts for the 2500 imho.

lol, not a fan of the signature series?

Yes, it would appear that a signature increases the value of an otherwise worthless common drek book.

When it comes to a true vintage collectible comic book, however, a signature is probably treated more like a clear and visual defect by the marketplace.

Probably one of the reasons why the signed 8.5 copy of AF 15 in the most recent HA auction managed to sell for only something like more than a $35K discount to the condition guide price. :o:censored:

Its a no-brainer: Id never get a HG grail signed.

And when it comes to "stan-lee'd" books: I will completely shut up. End of rant.
