  1. This thread is beyond epic. It has calls to CGC, archival review of the PTO database, and carbon dating!!
  2. I don't think that's any more relevant than the copyright date. I mean the lead time for having a golden book published could be significantly longer than the lead time for a comic book...or not. Either way, when the art was drawn wouldn't prove anything. Shhh. These guys are going to unprecedented lengths. Logic may slow them down.
  3. I thought Power Records books were considered comic books? They are listed in my Oversteet Price Guide along with the other comic books. I wasn't aware of a controversy about that. It's interesting. Do others feel the Power Records books are not comic books? CGC considers them comics http://www.cgccomics.com/census/issues_bytitle.asp?title=Power+Record+Comics&publisher=D%2EC%2E+Comics CGC grades them. That doesn't make them comics. It calls them comics ... I can call you a cotton-headed ninnymuggins. That doesn't make you one.

On that note, nor does it not make them comics. Well, that is certainly true. And realistically, no matter what someone puts up as a reason why it is not a comic book, you can find an example to shoot it down. I just use Justice Stewart's analysis - "I know it when I see it."

  6. That book is analogous to a Power Records book and record combo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/190881740183?lpid=82 Are they collectible - Yes Are they awesome - Yes Are they comics - No This Harley book may have legs, and I hope it does, but it is not a comic.
  7. Was this comic pressed and torqued? Has the tell tale signs of a comic that was pressed. Nice pick up either way.
  8. It's possible that SDCC 2 is considered his true first app., but DP 4 still sells for way more even today. Have you ever seen a 9.8 of this book? It's rare
  9. I don't ignore this point, as it is valid. Killing the goose that laid the golden egg would be the worst of all possible worlds.
  10. J, That 10 is awesome for two reasons: (1) The poster makes 9.8s extra tough and (2) No "For Ebay!"
  11. That's what I keep thinking. Maybe I'm wrong and this character has arrived. But I just don't see it. The Joker's own series in the 70's only lasted 9 or 10 issues, and he's the damn Joker! For Harley's series to work, they are going to have make a (reluctant) hero out of her. And I don't know if they will do that.
  12. Looks like a softcover little Golden Book. What a cool item!!
  13. Absolutely. I hope the owner loves it! I have looked at WD1s purely as commodities for years, so I am looking at the potential smaller market for the sweet, sweet flip. No disrespect to the WD1 collectors out there.
  14. I have been doing a lot of single signed character books as well. I was concerned with price point on WD multi sig books for this event. If you got everyone there to sign the book then it cost over $1,200 plus grading. Unless someone is keeping the book it pushes the price point too high for the average fan. If you look at the pics in the celebrity SS thread you can see I did a few single signed blank covers. Agreed. I will have a full cast signed book soon. In the meantime I have been getting single signed books that prominently feature the character. Here are my two from 2013, in addition to the Lincoln: http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=15440&GSub=627 http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=13797&GSub=627

  16. There were some amazing books put together at that show. The auto fees for some of them must have approached $500!!
  17. This is simply not true if you always buy low. To me volatility means fluctuations up and down. If you always buy low, you just wait for the pop and ride as long as you can stand. I have had 4 WD 1s and 5 or 6 19s. I have never had more than $300 invested in in any of them, and the one that I had $300 in was because I decided a quarter sized Moore sketch was worth dumping $100 on. Volatility had nothing to do with it, buying quality at a very low price had everything to do with it. But I am pretty sure you knew this.
