  1. Is this book worth a lot more because it is signed by Dini and Timm? Just how hard is it to get books autographed by both of them at the same time? EJR It's not getting it autographed by both at the same time that is hard. It's keeping the 9.8 grade. It doesn't take much, especially when getting books signed, to get a book's grade lowered. Not quite true. Paul Dini has been a really tough signature for a couple of years. He was a guest of honor at SD this year, and Bruce Timm was there as well. There were a lot of double signed BA12s cranked out at SD this year. There are other ones that have the guys that worked on the book itself, but I feel (as evidenced by the fact that I did mine this way) that the Dini/Timm versions are the coolest.
  2. No. How about close, or even in the same ballpark? Though to be honest, I don't see how Claremont's dialogue is any worse than the "yellow spandex" comment or Wolverine calling Cyclops a in the first movie. Our problem is that I thought both of those were great. They both made me cringe, but we can agree to disagree with no hard feelings. Absolutely!! I only poke you every once in a while because your adherence to 70's comic book scripts is adorable.

  4. Are you trying to make those guys feel bad? They are doing their best.
  5. I don't know. I haven't seen the movie yet. It's a mind swap. Something about Kitty's powers lets her swap Wolverine's mind from the past. Pretty sure I heard Singer himself say that in an interview. Well, now it all makes sense. Thank goodness Singer came along to clean up the poorly constructed original story. I hope they leave the Claremont dialogue exactly the same as well: Male Mutant Relationship Participant du jour: _______, I love you!! Female Mutant Relationship Participant du jour: And I, you, with all my heart!! Can't wait to see how it translates to film!!
  6. Wow! Campbell's "Arabian Knight" character is an exact copy of Marvel's Arabian Knight. Do you guys recognize any of the other characters from elsewhere? Boss the Gooch kind of looks like Boss Nass. Okay, so he's 1-1. He ripped off Arabian Knight, but he created Boss Nass. I don't know if that is a win or not It looks more like the 1st boss from the Smash TV video game. And I think it was out before JSC's little submission.
  7. That's what crack, sign and resubmit means.
  8. Probably a crack, sign, and resubmit. How anyone can do that with the kind of money in play is beyond me. CGC loves those dudes though.

  10. There is no way that is below a 4.0 unless the back cover is off.
  11. That's what I've always thought, but... I've posted about this several times so I apologize to everyone. All of the guys were at the CCE a couple of years ago, and discussed this at length at their panel. They discussed that they were obsessed with Sting and wanted to create a character based upon him. They snuck the 1st drawing in as an inside joke, but they had been discussing it so much that Moore made the Constantine character fit their desires. They made it pretty clear that they thought it would be revisionist history to call the Sting cameo a Constantine appearance, as the Constantine material hadn't even been written at the time they did it. But if the markets thinks so, it won't matter much what those guys say.
  12. That was not the case here in the Midwest USA. 93 and part of 94 orders and sales were still riding high. It was 95-96 that was the great implosion when we lost so many specialty stores.
  13. I think this is an excellent example. They clearly were coming in hot with a monster SA key, and were immediately endorsed by a number of Boardies, clearly confirming that (1) they had seen the book, (2) they had been to their warehouse, (3) they had a website and (4) they were legit. I generally fall on the "less bureaucracy is better" side of the equation, and this demonstrates why. Proper vetting takes very little time around here, and scams are sniffed out almost immediately. I do appreciate that it has become an epidemic lately, but from my perspective, the truth, normally, will out.

  15. Is that the Jughead profile, or the Jughead one eye open?
  16. I ordered some from various Ebay sources of the store variants. The ones I got from Bobs Hobbies came in yesterday. They were well packaged and shipped, but they show the same type of typical damage. Mostly 9.4-9.6 copies.
