  1. I wouldn't do 7 days under any circumstances. it is not objectively reasonable. The thing I like about the 30 days is that there is no excuse. There is virtually no reasonable way for a 30 day uncommunicated delay to occur. Since the PL involves a myriad different factual scenarios the rules need to be fairly broad to be useful. Anyone can pick holes in anything. The best thing about these rules is their utility. The more specific and restrictive they are, the less useful they will be. To answer your question, if I were doing what you are doing, I would try to get the version that I thought was best in place, not necessarily using a consensus. Thus it is great that I am not doing it.
  2. The power of RMA compels you . . . the power of RMA compels you . . .
  3. I agree. Me too. I try to ship quickly, but sometimes life gets in the way. Everyone I have ever been tardy to has been understanding. Every time I have had someone be tardy to me, I have been understanding. I would hate to have an untenable 14 day rule mess all that up. Sean, just because you have never had a bad experience with a transaction please don't dismiss the fact that it can happen to others. I'll repeat my scenario that has happened to me, I buy a book and pay immediately. I patiently wait 15 days and hear nothing. After a certain point I am concerned and have to make a decision to either call my CC company or face a possible PL. Is this fair to me ? I want to play by the rules but I also want my money back. I am not dismissing anything. I am expressing my opinion as to this proposed pay within 7 days ship within 7 days hard and fast rule. I am not a fan. That is my opinion. I don't want anyone to have anything untoward happen to them, but I also don't want to have a draconian 7 day shipping rule crammed where the sun don't shine when there are extenuating circumstances. That type of thing should easily be handled by communication between the parties about what are the expectations of how the transaction will be handled.
  4. Universal is "blue" label books... if you look at your blue labeled slabs, that it what CGC calls 'em. Yes it can be a labor of love getting books signed, but I prefer them. The only set I have a complete SS of is my Dark Tower Gunslinger and I probably will never attempt to get a full SS set again You should crack that 9.9 for Jae Lee . . .

  6. Kudos to everyone putting in the time for discussion and to the ultimate board scrivener, POV.
  7. The sumo dump is the most creative graemlin juxtaposition.
  8. I call dibs on the Netherlands. I had you pegged as North Korea.
  9. You can't be Switzerland, Cretella is Switzerland.
  10. Are you going to buy me some food in Chicago?
  11. On and on He just keeps on trying And he smiles when he feels like crying On and on, on and on, on and on
  12. I win every argument by not arguing. You are epic WIN.
  13. RMA is many things. Humorless is not one of them. He is an arguing honey badger. Nothing stops him from attacking and eating the cobra that is your argument. You may think of your argument as nothing more than offhand comment, or a throwaway statement. But it isn't. It is a cobra to be devoured, even if the cobra's venom may knock the honey badger out for a while. Pretty soon, that damn honey badger is back up gnawing on that cobra.
  14. I think about it like that all the time. If I had gotten caught doing some of the stuff I did, they may not have let me sit for the bar. Thank god I got my head on right. (Ostensibly).
  15. I agree with this 100% My point is that there are positive ways to move the young knob off the path to knobdom. They may take them and they may not. CapFreak did not. I know your background and I know that you have seen more than your share of bad eggs, that no amount of work was going to make them good eggs. I have been fortunate to be a part of a couple different programs that have taken recidivist delinquents and helped them turn themselves around. It doesn't always work, by any stretch of the imagination, but it does sometimes. I know that this discussion cropped up around CapFreak. To me, it is not about CapFreak, it is about all the other CapFreaks out there who may be painted with the broad brush that he (perhaps rightfully) has been painted. It is one of my real hot buttons, and I appreciate the indulgence.
  16. I disagree with you rarely, Chris, but I disagree here. Putting an indelible mark on the permanent record of a child is a super serious thing. Saying a child is irredeemable is a serious thing. Being on the HOS on this Board is not a serious thing. But the sentiment that a bad child will become a bad adult is a serious thing. I respect your experience and your opinion, but I do not agree with it. Kids mess up, sometimes badly. But they should always be able to redeem themselves. I wonder if some of the parents on here would sing a different tune if it were their children being written off summarily.

  18. Hey Green. Believe me I am sympathetic on this point with you. Just curious, what reasons were given to you by the seller to justify his actions. Did they pull the books from the FOR SALE thread or refuse to sell to you specifically? I refuse to sell to Green during basketball season, especially when NC is having an exceptionally good year. He just gets so obnoxious.
  19. 2 has been a big book for years (1st grendel). 5 went bananas for 5 minutes when the Maxx cartoon aired. It is a Maxx prototype, so it has always been on Kieth fans' radar. 6 has the 1st appearance of Evangeline. There are more 1s than you can shake a stick at. High grade copies are not that tough, but you would be surprised how many are ink rubbed. Don't think I've ever seen a 3 in the wild, and the last 4 I saw was super wide, like the size of an underground. It is an interesting little copper series.
  20. I still want someone to address this, please?
