  1. It sort of has been happening though - 1st appearance of Groot, Carol Danvers, Ultron, Steppenwolf, Black Panther etc. to lesser or greater degree just skyrocketing and passing much more historically "important" 1st appearances
  2. It wouldn't surprise me if it did - the thing that confounds us comic collectors is the fact that movie spec price jumps do not take into account the things that we know about the market i.e. the relative scarceness of MS5 in comparison to SME15 so it looks ridiculous. But movie spec-ers appear to be much more linear - Shang Chi hotter than Ghost Rider as a property so prices go crazy. I'm not defending it or even explaining it, just trying to make semblance of what it appears to be.
  3. I got all of my Adams signatures long before he started charging for them. But I have gotten several for other people as a Witness. One time, as I was paying his wife for the signatures (10 or 15 so $200-300 for six minutes of signing), he told me - "you need to buy some stuff off the table." I responded with something nonchalant like "No, I am good." He proceeded to glare at me after every $20 signature. It was like he was trying to wear me down or shame me into buying more. He love dat scrilla . . .
  4. Do you mean "objective?" Because you can pretty much find a subjective reason for anything - pointy elbows etc.
  5. This may be off by a quarter but here it is: IM 55 $4.50 IH 181 $35.00 ASM 129 $2.50 Avengers 57 $15.00 Thor 165 -166 $10.00 ($5 each) Hulk 102 $15.00 DD 168 $2.50 FF 112 $6.00 Defenders 28 $2.75 X-men 52 $3.50
  6. Exactly. I remember the first full body sketches, then the first action scene sketches, the first cover recreations - they just got better and better all the time.
  7. Thanks man - we have come a long way from head sketches on Fallen Son blanks . . .
  8. I'm not 100% certain, but I think this is it - Keith Pollard Thing head sketch. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=6537&GSub=248
  9. Torso Nick Fury http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=26579&GSub=248
  10. It used to be that the mods just coddled the crybaby spoons . Now they are the crybaby spoons.
  11. And yes, most facilitators will crack your books for you. Sorry I forgot that the first time.
  12. It will be regraded entirely. I have had 1500 books SS'd but I have never cracked a 9.9. Please check the values and make sure you are not going to get hurt too bad by going from 9.9 blue to 9.8 Yellow. If you do, you will regret it. It will be much easier for you to get a couple of 9.8 blues to crack. Then you could even sell the 9.9s to subsidize the cost. But the worst case scenario is cracking 9.9s and coming in with a lesser grade - which is a real possibility. Good luck!!
  13. Marvel Adventures: The Avengers and really any of the Marvel Adventures line should be great for an 8 year old.
  14. You are right - I just remembered the dust up, I didn't remember that DC won it.
  15. Yeah - that's what I get for going off memory - DC got the case dismissed and they can use FM however they want.
  16. I doubt there will be a Flex Mentallo character. My understanding is that DC faced legal action from Charles Atlas' estate over the character. I believe they agreed not to reprint the issues, and I suspect they agreed not to use or license the character again. It will be VERY interesting to read about if they go ahead and cast Flex Mentallo!
  17. His run on JLA in the late 90's is magnificent as well.
  18. I looked at it this morning. I had never seen the vast majority of those covers. It was museum quality. Craig Flessel did some really cool artwork!
  19. To me the most distracting and disconcerting thing is the muscle striation/burn scarring on his neck and shoulders
  20. Posted this in the Water Cooler thread as well: http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=22356&GSub=627
