  1. It's good to know that the strip club continuing education circuit can yield analogies that help people understand comic creator pricing inequities. Only you, Chuck.
  2. That probably has more to do with the pricing itself, as opposed to being a bellwether for forum sales.
  3. That is Brittany McManus' email from CGC. She is a legit employee and that is a legit email address. I don't know anything about the promotion or anything.
  4. My bad. I would still commission that OML though. Apologies to the real OML dude.
  5. Why are you responding like this? Who in here has presented themselves as "experienced art collectors?" It's fun to discuss. Aren't you the "One Minute Later" guy? Obviously you have a lot of art knowledge, but you don't have to be a tool. I'd like to do a OML commission of this thread with you gone from it.
  6. If it isn’t on the label, hucksterism and profiteering will yield no extra bread from the sorry rube who pays a premium for “Stan Lee’s first appearance.” So yeah, for this clown, it’s not about a lively discussion, the exchange of comic knowledge, or Stan Lee’s legacy. It’s about dollah dollar bills, y’all.
  7. This guy is better than the guy that made his girlfriends read Watchmen. This is just A+ circular illogic at its best. Also, I am saving Blubber Bob for a rainy day . . .
  8. That is the issue. He doesn't appear in the comic. He is neither drawn, nor depicted in the comic itself. Alice Cooper is. I can't speak to how consistent CGC has been with other instances like this. Leaving aside the completely ridiculous histrionics of the OP, it is an interesting conundrum. Realistically, what should be noted on the case is that it is a "Stan Lee Photo Cover." That is how most photo covers are treated. So to answer the original tantrum-question - "No." CGC is not "dishonoring" Stan Lee. You should have asked them to note it as a Stan Lee photo cover. Then you might have gotten a few extra shekels on the flip.
  9. Yes. It is a gorgeous book. And he has started a thread in Bronze and now Copper about it.
  10. This is very well reasoned. But I will say that I had been the Seller and they dropped the "don't ship until after Jan 1" on me I would not have even though about it again until the first weekend of January, and it would have been exactly the same for me as it was for Frank. You can't ask for something, have the Seller do it within a reasonable time, start a Paypal dispute and then complain about lack of communication. Buyer was the one who asked for the three week shipping accommodation. Who knows how inconvenient that may have been for Frank. But he did it and got all the BS for his trouble. Sorry about not just doing another meme.
  11. One of the main crazy things is that McFarlane LOVED the shadow face thing. He did it in Infinity Inc. a lot and - just like RCheli says - at the same time he was doing lots of weird layout stuff. So if it does play out that it is 100% Geiger, it is so ironic that it utilizes one TMac's favorite devices.
  12. 9.8 books are not perfect. Those books are 9.8s and they are not switched out.
  13. The Sandlot book is so frickin awesome!!!
  14. Plot holes you could drive a truck through and a lot of goofiness. But I walked out completely satisfied and I truly enjoyed it. It ain't your father's Aquaman, that's for sure. I would give it like a 6 out of 10, but for a DC film that feels like a stand up triple.
  15. For something like this to have legs, you have to find a need and then satisfy it. For most long-term boardies, the Selling area is more than good enough for what it is: A place to look for what you want and unload what you don't. Most of the problem threads have come from 3 types of bad actors (1) Pure Charlatans. These guys normally get smoked out quickly, but sometimes they snare the overzealous or the avaricious. (2) FDQ Sellers. Formerly good Boardies who flame out. Pretty self explanatory. These guys have had good threads and good relations and then they go off the reservation and leave a lot of people hanging. (3) Scofflaws. These people refuse to adhere to norms of the Boards and also refuse to live up to the rules. If you can convince the majority of people that you can solve these problems, you might get some traction, but otherwise, I feel like most long time Boardies know how to navigate the Selling Threads to get what they want out of it.
  16. As a famous portrait artist, I doubt that he is out there attending conventions and promoting his old comic work. I've never seen him do a show or a public appearance of any kind that related to comics.
