  1. I'm not saying that buyatari gets 5 stars for the way he handled it, I'm just saying that Warlord wanted the three pak and took the sentence "I'd be willing to sell them if you want them," as an immutable acceptance of a concrete offer. I don't believe it was. I believe it was a guy saying "These are for sale at the right price and subject to the right terms." I don't think there is any reasonable alternative without pretending that one can read minds.
  2. I 100% agree with this. Warlord is trying to ramrod this into a "done deal" - when it CLEARLY is not. It wasn't even from a sale thread. Clear terms equal a clear deal. a statement that "I'd be willing to sell them if you want them," is not clear enough to be a binding deal nor support a probation nomination. It looks like a jam job.
  3. Andy - The 2nd She-Hulk and the Defenders #1 both have typos/differing information from the scans . Check your prices and the books themselves.
  4. You've got a fantastic family buddy, and I hope I can be the inspiration for blank stares for many more years!!
  5. It's pretty ironic that you chose coins to cover up the poor kids with.
  6. At least misty-eye inducing stories: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? The Death of Captain Marvel When I was a little kid, MTIO #34 really made me cry. It was a super simple story about not judging a book (a scary monster) by its cover. The monster got killed trying to save a bunch of little kids. I haven't re-read it because I doubt it holds up - but man, to a 7 year old, it was a tear-jerker.
  7. I am sure I did something awesome for you - but not Laura getting someone who never signs to sign awesome
  8. It has been so long since I read it (in Jules Pfeiffer's History of the Comics, I believe) - but my vote is Flash Comics #1. If I remember correctly, the GA Flash straight up murders some bad guys in the last couple pages. Edit: Not really. He escapes death where the one bad guy murders the other three, and then he kind of runs the 4th guy off the road, which is probably manslaughter or something. but my vote still stands, the dialogue, grammar and syntax are horrific.
  9. There are a lot of guys (myself included) that have gotten farther and farther away from the program the less it becomes a community of like minded collectors, and more a business division. Not making a value judgment, but it is something I agree with you 100% as it relates to the actual dynamic at shows and in the program.
  10. I also firmly believe that the market will take care of price gouging on its own.
  11. I'm just saying that we've all made good bread on books before, and it is not fair to paint with too broad of a brush.
  12. I'm not sure why "true cost" enters into it. Do you research the "true cost" of a $50 steak or a $45,000 roadster? These are luxury items, and it is either worth your discretionary spending dollars or it isn't. I have paid anywhere between $175 and $350 on numerous occasions for books with free signatures. Why? Because I wanted it, and I wasn't able to get it done myself. Did I get "bent over?" No more so than the last time I went to Ruth's Chris.
  13. It's like the old grandpa society in here. Wait, what . . .
  14. Sandahl Bergman, Sven Ole Thorsen and Schwarzenegger
  15. Make sure you are conversant with CGC grading standards. If even a small portion of those books are 9.4-9.6 you will lose all your margin on the 9.8s. Stacking curls and uneven longbox storage (different sizes of backing boards) often knock a lot of unpressed Copper/Modern books to 9.4-9.6. It may be worthwhile to get them quick pressed, if that is not unsavory to you.
