  1. OK CGC, Where's my Manufacturing Error Variant of COS #5?
  2. Yes, you are correct. This was the first L&K book made from untreated paper stock for embossing. It is prone to severe spinal flaking and blunted corners. Which is a shame, because it is one of my all-time favorite covers from the series. It's why when I saw Steve's rare G-Rod sig alone on it, I jumped to purchase it, despite being a 9.6. I doubt we will ever see another book grade past 9.8 in it. I have bought upwards of over 20 books so far looking for one.
  3. You are so bad. Looks like there is another sheriff in town. I had to let Deputy Salem go for illegally swiping a few bags of catnip from the evidence locker. "I waz fwamed!"
  4. We started our sets in the very beginning of L&K... and Jerel - even before me. It's not about what place I'm in - it is that I have what I like to collect. I purchased a lot of his undercopies because he wasn't into SS, but he had them. I've sold gem mints to buy my SS copies cuz blue isn't my favorite color. I don't mind a little competition or being in 3rd place either. I've got to a point in this set where I don't care anymore. I have sold many undercopies, a lone SS 2nd print 9.9, the other Gem Mint 10 of #1 and numerous other uber SS books. People know I am such a stickler for a perfect book, that even a lone CGC 10 book in a Gem Mint holder that is really a 9.8 in condition will be cracked out and regraded as such( L&K: COS #2). Points be damned. I am just trying to build a perfect run of books and at the end of the day, I won't have to spend some insane BIN eBay price of $5,000 for a Gem Mint of #1. This might be an all time first on here too. The #1 fan of the comic series that is gonna be turned into a TV series, owns the top census mint book. That alone makes me feel good, especially in the wallet. That and the support of many friends here who have helped me achieve my goals since 2008. You guys are the real #1 winners of any Registry Award, I might pick up. Thank you.
  5. Close. That one has some overhang issues, similar to the #2. I have a feeling if the same number of people were submitting like they did for the #2's we would have some 9.9's in that by now.
  6. I've become such a completist, if it says "Locke & Key" on the cover... Into the shortbox it goes.
  7. Damn. You are right . I forgot about those. But, what's the regular cover that had the poorest cover stock with it's spine prone to flaking?
  8. OK... What is the only Locke & Key book that will never break CGC 9.8? DISCLAIMER: This is from my own personal experience of buying multiple copies of this book looking for a mint and knowing it's structural flaws. Example: Most L&K #2's have slight overhang that are bent, making a Gem Mint unlikely. Granted, I should never say never on an IDW book.
  9. I asked a while ago, he has the blue backgrounds. I even bought one off him. He's a great seller. My grey CGC 9.9 came from Horizon Comics the week of the original release. I couldn't believe I secured a raw 9.9 for $3. The Blue and the Grey(the flash is a little bright drowning out the colors, but you can also tell the UPC is over a little more on all the grey ones too). I obsessed about this for a bit.
  10. Correct! L & K: COS #3 had a slight hiccup when the IDW delivery truck had an accident in a snowstorm. The grey tinted symbiote-like background which had a print of 3,690 copies got out to certain regions first February 2010 comic sales ...and the the blue tinted symbiote-like background that came out two weeks later had 3,859 copies printed. March 2010 comic sales This is proof positive these are two different books, that came out at two different times right down to the different staple placement, background colors and sales numbers, despite having the same barcode. Merry Christmas Cheryl! I need to get this one ... its very odd .... you say the snowstorm had something to do with it are you just kidding with that or what ?.. Or you think the snow/cold some how changed the color of the book ?... happy xmas guys! The snowstorm caused the truck to have an accident, most likely destroying every IDW issue. ...and the destroyed books had to be reprinted to meet the orders. The grey/gray tinted book is a great book to get, IMHO. I only see the blue background covers everywhere. It's like the greys were pulped. If you ever see one on ebay let me know I'll try. But, I can't put too much stock in the eBay stock pics on there from the IDW website. It's really hard to tell them apart online, like the second prints.

  12. Thank you Glen. I'm glad you are enjoying the trivia posts. Merry Christmas to you too!

  14. Locke & Key: Head Games #1 is the highest with an estimated print run of 12,071 copies, but Locke & Key #2 is not the lowest recorded regular edition one. Caution: this is where I get tricky.
  15. Nope, but a good guess. The "Legacy Edition" had an estimated print run of 5,330 copies. The regular editions, I'm thinking of has a print run with 1,640 less and 6,741 more. By the way Jon, Merry Christmas!
  16. What was the lowest and highest printed regular issues of the series so far? I'm not talking about variants, second prints, special editions or reprints either.
  17. Oh God, are we gonna see the Iron Fist #13's come out soon?
  18. Pretty funny, but I think it's supposed to a surprise to buyers. Joe makes an appearance there too.
  19. Love it!!! Me too. Special thanks to Ralph and his Jetpack Comics crew for being so nice to this wild-haired rapscallion on Christmas Eve. It's a great-little naughty book going fast. http://www.jetpackcomics.com/store.html Merry Christmas Jetpack Comics!
  20. This book is not a 9.9 anymore and must be regraded immediately to restore cosmic minty balance.
