Looks like 'best offer accepted. Who lowballs this book at a $10 bin?

Glad the seller did not make his killing.

    Ha!

Saw that on eBay and cross referenced to MCS site. Was considering it when it disappeared. Sorry it was an error, sure looked like a good deal.

Does anyone have any experience moving this many comics?

    Yes

And I did what you won’t do

I rented the truck and did it myself.

If you have valuable books, best to do it yourself

If you have boxes of mostly middling books.

    Sell them.

If you hire someone, plan on loss/damage/theft. And to over-pay

Divide the cost of moving per book. Are the books worth the added cost?

I just purchased Plastic Man #49 and was getting ready to post it in the This Week in my Collection thread when I ran across the Most Unpopular Super Hero thread in the Golden Age forum. That inspired me to start this thread. My nomination has to be Plastic Man's sidekick, Woozy Winks. His image has runied so many great Plastic Man covers! I was able to ignore it enough on this particular cover to still make the purchase. If you replace his image with a hot chick laying on the mad scientist's table this comic instantly turns into a comic that sells for way, way more. Am I right? Please post your candidate for the title of Worst Sidekick. Good luck beating Woozy!

  6. Comics vs cards is like boxing vs Football

Cards and the NFL want the product viewed/sold everywhere at every price point.

Comics and Boxing want to squeeze every dime at every sale and are very exclusive with Direct sales and pay per view on every unit/ big fight.

The exclusivity and maxing out each individual sale over time simply kills the golden goose.

Fewer fans give a krap about boxing any more and Comics are circling the drain.

Meanwhile the NFL keeps drawing more interest by always having games available on free TV. And cards can be found in all the places comics abandoned years ago.

Looks like august 1977 what comic was printed first is her first app. Some think its avengers Annuel 7 other think godzilla 1 is the first appearance

So Wolverines first appearance was an ad page in DD #115?

So if these fools have money let me sell you some Krap…. Err investment opportunity!
I’ll play along, the 35 cent variants printed first, so Godzilla #1 35 cent variant. Send me all your bit coin and it can be yours!!!

I love these kinds of things, and I fully admit I am a total nut when it comes to chatting about this, so I thank you in advance for bringing this up.

I will talk about Hulk 181,

    9.9 - 1 exists. No sales figure
    9.8 - 155 exist. Average sale: 75k, Low: 66k
    9.6 - 400 exist. Average sale: 22k, Low: 18k
    9.4 - 630 exist. Average sale: 14k, Low: 11k
    9.2 - 850 exist. Average sale: 10k, Low: 8k
    9.0 - 1,190 exist. Average sale: 8k, Low: 7k

Census numbers are always difficult. This is probably the #1 CPR book. Most of those 9.0-9.6 books were squeezed out of existence.
And the “9.9” is an 8.5 with real soft corners , but it has that ‘dreamy’ 9.9 label. Anyone buying that should just buy a label and a raw VF and save themselves a lot money

Agreed for the most part, plus the fact that I'm trying to complete a nearly 200 item count registry set (30 centers, I'm settling for a combo of raw and slabbed) and I'm *trying* to keep the cost down! And some pieces are rare enough that an ugly sig or sig placement would ruin the book for me. 9.8 with a disgustingly awful one of those? no thanks.

Plus, us boardies can be both extremely cheap and extremely spendy depending. Sigs give higher grade points so those looking to be a top set almost have to have some sig series in there to be competitive. That drives the price up or at least justifies a buyer spending more than they would on a blue label.

    How close are you?
Hope you post the group shot when you get there!

  10. As far as I am concerned most every book is signed somewhere in the art. Marking it up with a sharpie is not needed imho. Most of the time they are for resale, so it’s not like I waited in line and shook someone’s hand.

The exception to me would be a cast signed book. A book signed by the late great ‘sir’ Alec Guinness I would pay extra for. Having “Stan Lee” scribbled in sharpie on the cover would mean no more to me than the printed signature in Stan Lee’s soapbox. In fact I would pay only the ‘qualified price. They are after-all a glorified GLOD.

Here’s a couple of Very High Grade Star Wars 35 centers up for auction on the bay. Both are signed by Roy Thomas.

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a signed Price Variant. I was just wondering, anyone’s thoughts on signed copies, increases value or doesn’t matter? Also, anyone have any Price Variants signed?

It doesn’t do anything for me, but I am sure it helps. The only exception would be a ‘single highest grade’ copy.

That would seem like an unnecessary redundancy.
