San Diego Comic-Con may become an online convention

Ignoring the pandemic and the fact that there simply are not enough hospital beds to care for the proected rise in cases if the trend upward continued. This is not a normal recession. Unemplyment claims in the first week were greater than the worst week of the last recession (the 'great recession') by 500%. The next week was worse. So far that is 22 million jobs lost. Just run that number through your head and try to convince those that have been through a dozen or so of these in their lives that this is just another recession. Lines at the food banks stretched city blocks. The food ran out at several. Millions of Americans can no longer pay their rent. The jobless in comparison to the great depression is worse than the bottom of the depression. I know you have 'books to sell'. But people are HURTING. Others are dieing. -
Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...

Which means it was likely shilled or there will be a NPB. Lone wolf prices like this exist only in fairy tales. -
As above, I miss the newsstand No "variant covers" no retailer incentive covers. Just hunting the local newstands for Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-man # 1 and Nova #1. Pretty sure the cover price has out-stripped inflation by a sizeable amount. Having 50 different covers on the latest re-set of ASM #1 did nothing but leave a sour taste in my mouth. If Diamond completely collapsed would that be a bad thing?

San Diego Comic-Con may become an online convention

Looks like the question is answered. To hold the con would be a 100% money grab. Many of the attendees would stay away and the size of the hit to the current economy would take a sizable chunk out of sale$ The question now is the feasability of mega gatherings like this in the near future. The economy is heading into the toilet, disposable income is heading down a hole. As someone still working with lots of OT, I am REALLY hesitant to spend any money. Prices need to drop in scale similar to my 401k, real wage deflation and employment. All those are off by a factor of 25% or more. Comics are for disposable income. Prices need at least a 25% adjustment downward before I would feel comfortable buying again. Does it not make more sense to have cash on hand for RE when that starts to retreat as many are predicting? -

Maybe add #200. Death of the burglar.

Books with a 'premium I would seperate from keys. #119 and #120 get a premium as do the price variants, but they are not 'keys'. #156 gets a huge premium in 9.8, but it is not key.

Agree 100% This thing was going around California earlier than China was reporting the outbreak.

He was at the helm when the whole Ewert thing was going on. I wouldn't trust him.

Let us hope it is not a NPB. I would not count those chickens too soon.

The virus is widely believed to have come out of China. There is far greater trade and travel from China on the west coast. Yes apples and oranges. One city was very quick to react , one was not. One state was quick to react, others were not. The results show California was right and it's leadership was better than others.

It is a free country no? If people want to pay millions for a home on a fault line you would do what? Ban real estate free market?
-
Then move Can you not post your political views with all your negativity?
-
Third world countries don't have million dollar condo's Real estate inflation caused homelessness. But a booming middle and upper class will do that.

I don't know where you are living, but it has been tent city under the over-passes here for several years. So yes, I think that is sadly sustainable.

They may have gone to the in-house shill. I don't believe anything on Heritage

Tracking hammer results during the COVID-19 pandemic

Dead on. And those working (counting myself lucky to have near zero chance of lay-off) are not spending. This is going to be a rough ride for at least the next year. -
I hope the stimulus saves a lot of small businesses. I honestly think this is going to be a 'doomsday' scenario for many. The banks are backing away from these loans and the fed losening 'cash-on-hand' limits is not inspiring many banks to expand those limits. If the banks are worried, the rest of us should be petrified. On a side note, I have about 80K in my credit union. They sent me a survey asking what I thought. I filled it out telling them what I thought about the $2/mth they charge for the paper statement. I expected to hear nothing. Wrong, the bank VP called me TWICE on consecutive days. After leaving a message I got called back. They read the questionaire and said they were rescinding the charge off my bill and going back a full year and refunding me. The banks are really reacting and are catering to depositors, even nickle and dimers like me. This is a very worrying sign.
