  1. My advise to attendees. Don't go. One person infected without symptoms suddenly sneezes or coughs and 70 people could become affected all at once. Your advise otherwise is pretty sound, but there is clear evidence the virus can enter the body through the eyes. N-95's are always used in combination with face shield. Might consider goggles if going to be in a crowd.
  2. Probably not here. If you have other venues you might want to send your books there from now on. Unless you were a turd there as well?
  3. While I am liquidating my collection, I still grab these when I see them
  4. Ha ha, I had a paper route as well to fund my comic collecting. There was a newstand and general store along my route that I would stop in when I knew the new comics were arriving. To my dismay, I accidently delivered an occasional comic along my route. I recall specifically losing Hulk #200 in this fashion. The only copy the stores had, there was gap in my run for quite sometime before i got a copy to replace it.
  5. I ordered some of those Bell bags in the late 70's. I ordered 1000 and the UPS guy asked "what the heII is here, they weigh a ton".
  6. This I had bad vibes as did many others even before the COVID-19 crisis Started the liquidation process in Aug and don’t regret it for 1 moment The stimulus (if it happens) may eventually right the ship. But having liquid funds available in the bank seems like a good thing no matter how this settles In any case, the retreat in prices for comics has not nearly matched other assets most notably stocks. There seems more opportunity in the stock market eventually hitting bottom and bouncing back than in comics - even big keys. As long as the collectibles market remains inflated in relation to other assets I am holding onto the cash and buying nothing I am usually bearish as a baseline, so it would be nice to get the perspective of those who feel more bullish
  7. The thing about the All #184 is how few of those exist. They must be stashed away in a warehouse somewhere. I agree with you, it makes little sense , reprint or not, to make such a small print run
  8. The stridex reprints, and ALL detergent copy of ASM #184 - more reprints. The Whitmans are just one more kind of reprint, similar to Pence copies. Not that hard to reprint books.
  9. This is true Only the N-95 will protect you and those are used in combination with gloves and gown. There is a process of donning and doffing that needs to be followed or even the N-95 is worthless. Additionally, users need to be 'fit tested' as centain facial features such as beards will not allow the N-95 to protect the user. Proper hand-washing is the most effective method to avoid problems.
  10. I chased these books for years as an ASM completist. In my experience the first 6 or so “Whitman’s are harder to find in high grade than the ASM 35 cent variants
  11. Agreed Love to know 100% sure what these books were. It is becoming the new 'pressing thread".
  12. It is not that hard to reprint the price box. perhaps you are not aware of pence copies?
  13. There is at least 1 dealer in the area who was actually in business at the time He insists there were NO Marvel direct edition books at the time of the Whitman 3 packs Further I KNOW when these 3 packs came out, as I am old enough to remember first hand These were REPRINTS in the 3 packs, they came out 6 months after newsstand release Call them what they are Whitman exclusive reprints
  14. My collection is always at risk of fire/flood/theft. I am looking forward to retiring someday I could not absorb that loss without a negative impact on my retirement nest egg I have moved to an asset less prone to risk, a second home While the same risks remain, the value of the home lies mostly with the land it sits on
  15. My goal would be to sell every last comic and exit the hobby Been fun, but time to move on
  16. Wow, never knew the SW #1 reprints went for that much It looks like the last sale 7.5 in GPA was $88 Good luck selling that raw in the forums at that price
  17. I would also add that most slabs these days are pressed. Since the collapse of the NOD it is clear that ask or not there is a lot of denial around pressing. The likelihood of an unpressed raw 9.2 existing seems greater than my chances of getting an unpressed or truthfully disclosed slab. That is if anyone cares about such things
  18. For copper and late bronze it is 9.8 and who cares Why slab a 9.6? If I want a slab I want 9.8. If I want a raw, there is the chance of damaging the book when cracking the slab. And I don’t pay for the slab, it is the book. Is a super super common copper worth $ 50 more for a slight grade bump not 9.8?
  19. Being knowledgeable of his age alone I would tell him go take a hike before dealing with him.
  20. In his post on page 1 he says he is 16. Doesn't the boards have an age requirement? That was an issue with GIJOEISAWESOME when he got shown the door. In any case, dealing with a teenager is often going to bring commitment problems.
