  1. for my money, I'd want more separation between 31/29 and 35...I think a 5.0 #31 and 29 is worth more than $2-$3k than a #35 in the same grade. just the facts mister...just the facts... (thumbs u yes sir Well, the 35 is catching up to the 31 and 29, but wont pass them. The 29 and 31 will flip in desirability now and then. The 31 is more desired now but I can see the opposite happening not too long down the line. Personally, I like the 29 cover more. Much more action happening on the 29. I disagree...I think 31 will always hold an edge over 29, albeit only slight (I mean, it has for the past 50 years, not sure what is going to change now)....and I agree that 35 will always lag behind those 2... Agreed The 35 will always stay 3d but it has grown to become the 4th most desired issue after 27, 31 and 29 , without a doubt. Its tough to say that 31 will stay 2nd forever though. But no matter what that and the 29 will always be close, that is a fact too. I think it will be pretty firm soon that of course 27 will stay numero uno and that most likely 35 will become the unquestionable 4th. But I agree that 29/31 will always be very close and possibly flip flop around and around as time goes on. No matter what 29 and 31 are some great books.

  3. if only that were more "31s coming your way than 29s" I have had 5 tec 31's come my way in the last few months and only 2 tec 29's... I think I've mentioned this to you before, but when I was putting the run together for the first time in the early 1990's, and attending EVERY convention worth going to, every year for a decade, this is what I observed in terms of most commonly found for sale. List is ordered most common to least common: 34 36 37 30 32 35 27 31 33 29 28 The 33 was the most elusive for me back in those days, but the bottom three I would go a year or two without seeing a single copy at a show and if you recall, about 2-3 years ago, there was like 15 copies of 33 available...market has finally absorbed many of them... but it was the "scarceness" of 33 that drove the price up so much that 33 starting coming out to capture the $momentum Rick, what do you project market prices will be when comparing 29s, 31s, and 33s in the next 10 years? Do you see the 33 stabilizing and the 29 and 31 passing it? I hope 33 plummets like a meteorite I respect 33 for it being the origin but the Batman adventure following it in 33 is for sure not my favorite. I like 29 and 31 much more because the stories are better and they are earlier Batman!!
  4. (thumbs u 32 is one of my fav stories. Because of the whole Batman + Gun thing.

  6. Very interesting. And since there are only a given number total of each out there. It will always be more random when a lot of any issue is for sale at one time. All depends on when a collector sells.
  7. Yeah, this list is no substitute for the knowledge of an expert who knows a market really well. But if you're getting into collecting a new title, or want to spot check the true scarcity of all Gerber 8's, or anything like that, it's a very easy way to get a hugely valuable piece of info, and all the data points you need (value in unrestored 2.0, number of copies on the census) are available readily. My Windex scarcity rankings have another factor which is harder to quickly collect (basically, a census of copies sold in public venues or currently available in inventory lists), but it's built on this principle. I'm never going to have time to complete it, so I figured I might as well publish the foundation of the methodology. (thumbs u
  8. Interesting. Very nice. I trust your theory here as you have owned multiples of each. I always thought 36 was the toughest (after the elusive 28) because I have seen 0 for sale recently - while I have seen 3 Tec 37's (one of which I bought at a CGC 1.0) Well glad I own a 37 then. (thumbs u
  9. I must say I really enjoy the Tec 37 story. The splash is great - Batman with his early "Bat-Mobile" (of course it was not called the Bat-Mobile until issue 48) pulling up to a "lone home" in the middle of nowhere under the moon light! Also love the fights on the dock under the monnlight and the final battle where the villian ("The Count") dies by a neck stabbing with his own sword! It is a very strong story and a strong final Batman solo story in the Tec's before 38!
  10. ...If I get a Tec #35, it will be more in the 0.0-0.5 range. Fingers crossed for ya, mate! (thumbs u (thumbs u
  11. Yeah that is what I was thinking too - just did not know because this thread in the past anyway just seems like a thread of posting Tecs you own or are on sale. But we should talk about the stories! Sounds like fun. Send me over your pile of early Tecs and we can get started. And in all seriousness... your want list looks a lot like mine. I'm really, really jonesing for a pre-Robin Tec this year. Don't know if I can swing it, but I'm continuing to watch what's out there! (thumbs u Love the Pre-Robin Tecs! I would love to get a (2.0-2.5) Tec 35 or 36 this year!!

  14. Hey everyone, And let me know if there has already been one started (again I am pretty fresh to the boards). It would seem also that it would be fitting here to do it. But anyways - I would love to get a thread (or discussion going in this thread!) where we can do break downs and go deep in discussing the early batman stories. Discuss art, style, story, etc. of any single issue. Maybe do an issue a week? And maybe get everyone's opinion from 1 out of 5 grade on cover or story per each individual issue. If there is anyone interested let me know and you can either get it started or I can get it started. I love talking early Bat stories and I know others here do as well!
  15. Wow allergic to chocolate? And I fully agree its about time the white oreo was treated as an equal. Thank you for kindly correcting his spelling errors without pointing them out. C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E A-L-L-E-R-G-I-C actually, both spellings are correct and accepted (thumbs u In Lynn Haven, yes. well, all I can say is Poofy is not a word (thumbs u and I was disappointed when I was a child to learn that "gobs" is not a word.

  17. Nice item. And you want to get a Tec 27 reprint signed by Jerry Robinson? If I could ever find a Tec 27 reprint (or any GA book) signed by Bob Kane (who past in 1998) and it could be proven authentic I would be thrilled. One piece I would like to add to my collection. I have a CGC SS Tec 109 signed by Jerry Robinson (which I just bought from a board member) Exactly. Especially since the Oreo Reprint has elements from Tec 38 and Batman 1--all with direct Robinson work in them--all the more appropriate. I also have a few other books I want to send in to Chandler if he can arrange this singing session as well. There are a few Bob Kane signed books for sale verified by Dynamic Forces (where my Action 1 was verified), and I'm thinking about getting one of these eventually. Even though Bob was as shady a businessman as he was... I still can't help but want his signature. Regardless of his questionable ethics in some areas, he was still the guy who engineered the Batman mythos (probably a FAR more appropriate term than created as he wasn't the sole participant in his creation, but he certainly was the mover behind Batman becoming who he did). Yeah it would be very nice. And I won't get into my feelings toward Kane right now. But if you read my fan view of Batman 1 a page over I purposely listed him last. Anyway Bob Kane is the co-creator of Batman - and I love his art. For that I would love to have his signature.

  19. And a darn fine one at that! (thumbs u #35 is pretty much tied now for favorite cover with my favorite cover #31. Once I land a 35 I will be happy. Hoping to find one in at least a 2.0 but hopefully better like a 2.5 (like my 31) or a 3.0. Also hoping to find one that does not destroy the bank. Haha. I dunno about not destroying the bank So true. haha.
  20. And also note. The paper on the oreo reprint is very cheap and thin. Low quality.
  21. I have had a ton of those oreo 27's over the years. Finally settled on a CGC 9.8 Okay so this oreo giveway 27 is not just a 27 what it is, is it is the batman story from tec 27 the tec 38 batman story and the first joker story from batman 1 all printed into one book with the cover of tec 27. And for the record it is called a Tec 27 reprint even though it does not include all of Tec 27 and it has other stories thrown in.
