King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword (5/12/17)
mrwoogieman replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
The problem isn't with Guy Ritchie and his films, it's a studio giving him any kind of budget over say 60-75 million. Ritchie's movies are a niche brand and should be treated accordingly by the studios. -
Anyone who creates anything should be free to monetize their signature or any other thing they want to sell and that people want to buy. Let them decide what 'rewards' they should bestow upon their fans.

Kind of a big ask of your fellow forumites, really. I think you'll have to do the legwork yourself unless someone is feeling very generous with their time/knowledge.

The Official The Walking Dead Discussion Thread
mrwoogieman replied to MutantKeys's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
In a way, the TV show version of the Andrea character kind of "osmotically" spoiled the comic-based Andrea for me. She was so useless in the series that her badassery in the comics seemed to dissipate a little. I was left feeling about the character overall, but sad to see her go for sure. And Kirkman's letter at the end was touching. -
I thought the minimum age for these boards was younger than 18...

Thanks for the stories, RM, I love to hear them! I'm a big fan of finding comics "in the wild" and returning them to collectors' hands, and I will hit estate and tag sales, garage sales, flea markets, etc., looking for goodies to collect for myself or to flip for other things I need or like, none of which I would be involved with but for the existence of eBay.

Post your Garage Sale/Flea Market/Antique Mall Finds Here

Some of those coverless books are worthwhile. I think one of them is Jughead's Folly #1. Hey Blob, maybe we need to road trip down to Baltimore Con this year and see Mr. Donut! -

Hundreds of dollars in books in just that picture alone! People are crazy sometimes... -
The scuttlebutt at Carbo's show regarding the Javits incident is that Mike wasn't present at the booth on Sunday when the items were taken. Also hearing that Reed/Pop was happy to spin the story up to throw some mud on Carbo and the other guy because con-promoter-rivalry.

Is The Comic Industry's Reliance on Variant Covers Sustainable?
mrwoogieman replied to rjrjr's topic in Comics General
I was going from memory, but I found an article on it pretty quickly, see below. It was two collectors and two different cards, both supposed to be limited to 150 copies, and each collector amassed more than that number themselves. The linked story says that the Jagr collector was awarded $177,000. http://www.espn.com/sportsbusiness/s/2003/0714/1580511.html -
Is The Comic Industry's Reliance on Variant Covers Sustainable?

Now don't go giving Topps a free pass on the shenanigans. There was a lawsuit by a hockey card collector after he set out to corner the market on a special Jaromir Jagr holofoil card of some sort that was supposed to be limited to 250 copies. He sued Topps for fraud after he had acquired about 260 of them! -

Thanks guys! What a pleasure meeting Steranko again, such a class act who acts like he has all the time in the world for his fans! He was complimentary regarding Stan's signature, but said Stan took his spot on the poster. I said it was up to him whether he wanted to put his on the same side as Stan's or balance it out over on the other side. He said he liked my thinking and would balance it out. Then he held up a red sharpie and a black sharpie and said pick. I said it's up to him but he didn't lower the pens so I said black. He said of course it has to be black just like Stan's to balance it out. As far as placement, I don't think it could be any more balanced than where he put it. After a little more chit-chat, he told me to give it a good home. Will do, Mr. S.!!

Looking forward to seeing Steranko at the Big Apple Con this weekend to complete this little project! Maybe he'll also sign my Creatures on the Loose 22...

TWD TV SHOW--Offical Discussion Thread
mrwoogieman replied to dhurley's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
So there are a hundred people living in a maze of trash who all dress alike and can't speak properly and Winslow.... Why can't we just have All Out War the way it was written in the comics? It's a shame the TV people think their inane ideas add value to the show.
